    depending on where you live and what market you are targeting the main search engine you need to target = probably Google.

    submission is useless and so al all the pricy sumbission software and services;
    just get 1 or 2 good inbound links to your new site and the Search Engines will come along and index your site...

    Search engine submissions used to refer solely to submitting your web site URL to search engines for crawling and indexing. Now it includes sitemap, directory and possibly other submission methods.

    Personally I don't do submissions anymore; I just make sure my pages have incoming backlinks for search engines to follow.

    Google, Yahoo and MSN are the only search engines to worry about. You don't ever need to submit to search engines - they will find your site if you have some links pointing at it.

    aolaybar: In a way it helps rankings because submissions help search engines expedite crawling and indexing of pages. If pages aren't crawled and indexed, there's no way they get ranked at all.

    they say it is better if you let search engines do the natural crawling than submitting your url to them. okay, i apparently don't feel the effect, but it's a way better to submit your sitemap esp. to Google 'coz that way, you'll get your site indexed in a jiffy. It's so proven and tested!

    :D i don't own the campaign. i'm currently employed in a company who has a campaign on its own. it's just one of my daily stints. so far, so good--according to the metrics, the conversion rate and ROI is pretty doing well on the majority of keywords. although, we cannot evade the fact that there are still low performing keywords, and we need to work on that just as to make it ideal for say, google's quality score, for instance. :)

    about the ISULONG SEOPH contest? i just slacked off. i guess i don't want to put too much effort on the contest. and last time i checked, my site's on page 5--still down in SERPs. harhar! :p

    right now, im doing nothing about that site but to post some topics... if i have the gall to post the ludicrous ones like what i did on the present post...i just might do. :p

    Absolutely !! Sitemap is a much better SEO technique than submission. BTW - just for newbies, google likes XML format of sitemaps !! LOL

    im often associated here as a guy that's why i post my pic as an avatar. i'm a girl. ;)

    yup, in the pollution-laden district of the philippines. ha-ha, chattering via forums is a good and enjoyable learning experience. :)

    just an added info:

    option a: you can either try submitting an html form of sitemap, and using this url tag from auditmypc.com, try attaching the url of my sitemap to such tag then copy/paste it in your browser.

    option b: create xml files using a sitemap generator. great ones like xml-sitemaps.com are the easiest to use. :p
