I see people spamming their sites and affiliate links on youtube all the time, what are their consequences? What is stopping me from spamming my site there?

You can obviously get your account deleted.

But really, who is going to look at your videos if you spam? YouTube thrives based on ratings, views, and suggestions. If YouTube thinks your content is crap, don't expect it to be shown to anyone.

Nothing. You can make all the spam videos you want and upload them to every video site that will take them.
It probably won't do you any good, but nothing is stopping you.

Youtube is owned by Google. Probably they won't ban your website from Google automatically but I would really take into consideration that you might get into someone's black list in Youtube that could share it with someone else in the Search department. You never know what happens in the Google World.

I highly doubt there is a connection. There are hardly enough people taking down the illegal content on YouTube, I don't think Google would put much effort in trying to ban small marketing tactics such as this.

Also you have to think: would it really be fair if I uploaded 1,000 videos of your company and made them appear as spam and you got delisted from Google? No.

Some people would just directly ignore all the advertisement in youtube.

True and agreed, but I still wouldn't spam a service offered by Google.

Your spam will get flagged and removed fairly quickly. It will also just get ignored.

Target your demographic audience with good content and a link and it will be appreciated and will get you some more traffic.

They get banned, create new accounts, get banned etc etc

You can outsource the account creation if you're lazy. I don't recommend spamming youtube though.

cool, thank you guys for your feedback.

because i'm looking at youtube vids, and every 10 comments there's at least one comment with someone else's link. if they can do it, i can too...

but of course i wont', cuz it's no use.
