This is the thing - I'm really good in PPC and like to stick and focus on that. For SEO it's going to take me time to learn and then time to keep my site in the rankings, so my thought was if I pay an seo company $300/mo and lets say they make me $600/mo then still I'm still doing well.
Someone mentioned $300/mo being low price, what's the avg charges for this?

We would have to know more about what exactly they are doing and for which keywords.

For example ebay could hire Rand for $1000 an hour - because he is a brand.
Do you think an Chanel 10 000$ bag is much better than cheap Coach Bag of $200. Quality is almost the same.

I wouldn't pay him more than 1$ an year for his teaching. He just use common seo knowledge every experienced webmaster knows.

This thread makes me sick. Things like, "make the SEO do a performance deal" and "$300/mo" and SEO companies are a rip-off, learn and do it yourself" MAKE ME SICK.

OK, I have been in the industry a long time and have worked at some of the biggest SEO firms and have started and run my own firm at one point. SEO takes time but the payoff lasts a lifetime. Your ROI is gigantic with SEO but you need patience.

How long it will take you to rank will depend on the following:
how competitive your keywords and niche are
the age and authority of your site currently
the quality of your site's content

Most SEO firms are bad but there are good ones. Link building is the toughest thing to get and the toughest for SEO firms to provide. I would imagine that anyone charging you $300/mo is ripping you off. That just is not enough to get the linking that any niche would require, on top of the good on page SEO that needs to be done. The minimum any good SEO would charge would be around $1000/mo and you should give that at least 6 months before you evaluate the results.

Remember that you will still get tons of targeted traffic long after you have stopped paying the SEO!

Sorry but comparing a manufactured item to a professional service makes no sense.

    This is a stupid thread.

300/month is more than enough for an seo company that has many clients. I work full time for a web development company in the internet marketing department, and do freelance SEO work. Many clients = lower cost per client. Like how chains can charge less than mom and pop stores.

I've done SEO's for 750, and gotten them on to mid to number 1 on page 1 for competitive keywords.

It takes me about 6 months to optimize my site for 19 Million results. Normally, it takes me 3 t 5 months for first page ranking if the keywords are not competitive.

I agree that $300 is a very low price.....So low in fact, I might question the quality. As for how long it takes to rank to depends on the keywords. In the long run SEO is will defenetly pay for itself as long as your targeting the proper terms.

My suggestion is do not only lean on SEO company. You have to keep high quality content on your website, so the visitor will keep coming back to your site.

Correct, its a big company with many clients that's why they are charging me $300/mo and I have personal references who have benefited from them. If someone needs to check them out pm me as I won't promote them until I see results for myself.

As for doing it myself, most of my time is spent on adwords and I like to focus on paid traffic, while this company can benefit me from seo at the same time.

Anyone who is not going after organic traffic for the long term is making a huge mistake. SEO is sooooooo easy and it does take time to rank. It can take a week, a month or never, depending on the niche. Most any niche and top 10 is conquerable.

My advise is make sure they are doing what they say. For example, they must be obtaining valuable links from websites with PR in your niches? Ask them to provide you with a report so you can check these links out. It can be as easy as that. I am sure you are ghettoing articles and content??? Check, trust, but ALWAYS verify.

The best advice I have is to learn white hat SEO yourself. Visit Matt Cutts blogs etc. SEO can take your business to new levels and give you the ability to enter any online niche.

No doubt, SEO Will be the most valuable work force commodity in the coming years.

Your being really vague with your site details and its impossible to give you any kind of reasonable response to what you're asking.

How long is a piece of string?

Just to update everyone - in 3 weeks they have done SE submissions, social networking sites, Link directories & press release. Does this order sound about right & the time frame?
