Hi there, Im looking at starting my own T shirt business. I'm not going to go into detail with the niche but i can see it being profitable... I just have a couple of questions; Do i have to register it as a business? - Under what circumstance will i need to registerit as a business? Paypal only? - Would it be a good idea to accept paypal only? I see it being easier to get a website set up. Packaging? - Whats the best way to package t shirts? Im guessing Jiffy bags? Thats all for now! - Thanks.
Hello ! Well i can't answer you for registered business.. But i have to tell you about paypal.. Do NOT!! accept only paypal ! In that way you will lost many of your potential customers. And always have on index page all payment methods they can use.. They will have more trust for you and more payment options is very good ! Somoe people can't create paypal, because they don't have creditcards.. But they have moneybookers... So, accept as many payment options as possible !
You can try to open your own CafePress.com store and they will do everything for you (the shipping and packaging stuff).
1.Yes,you need to register it with your local authority. 2.Its depend on your client preferences. But i strongly suggest you use many payment gateway to support those non paypal user country. 3.You can tailor make it to suit your customer needs.
if your from the uk you need to pay tax so give the HMRC a call you need to set your self up as self-employed dont worry its rather easy to do. when you set up tell them that you THINKING of been self employed or they will back log you.
A local printer. Right, OK Thanks. I think im going to use paypal only for this project seeing as the niche im targetting are all in the UK and most have paypal accounts. Not even if its UK only? Right, OK. I'm actually 17 years old - (18 this september). Could i get my dad to say its his business, (even though hes got a job?) BTW, i am in the UK. Thanks!
as far as I now you can register a business before you'Re 18 in the EU all you need to do is get a document that says your partens know about it .....
If you are just starting out then don't bother to register it since you aren't making money yet from it. You wil have some fees to pay when you register your business. If you have been making some money for quite some time then that is the time to register it since the government would notice it.
Other than paypal, you can also consider using Google Checkout in "Google base". Google Checkout is a service that makes buying and selling across the web fast, convenient, and secure. You know, Google is the brand.
mmm he needs to register from the date he starts to trade i know a lot of people think its when you first make money sadly this is wrong its your START date. in this case as soon as he buys his website he needs to register it dont matter if your making a profit or a loss the tax office wont tax you if its less then 100 quid any way but you need to register and tell them your setting it up. i think NI comes when you make more then 4k a year. ok you need to be over 16 to register as self employed your 17 so thats fine. Its not a good idea to set it up in your dads name because he works he will have to pay a class 2 NI whats 2.50 a week and his tax bracket may rise. i suggest you do it http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/selfemployed/iwtregister-as-self-employed.htm also with you been in the uk you can go to free courses that teach you how to become S/E and how to fill in tax returns and so forth. i would set up a new bank account as well so you can keep track of the money coming in also you wont pay tax on goods you use for example your website domain you wont be taxed on the 9$ you wont pay tax on the ink or the printer get your self a copy of the tax brackets so you know what to spend. say i make 200 quid your ink costs 10 quid tshirts costs 40 you will only be taxed on the 150 not the 200.
