Hello, I had been ranking on top of Google for most competitive keywords at Google.co.in but not at Google.com. Recently, after I changed my domain (301 from my old .co.in to .com domain) I lost my rankings at Google.co.in, I changed Preferred Country to India in Google Webmaster Tools still I am not gaining my rank. My rank for most keywords at Google.com is same as before with my .co.in domain but my rank at google.co.in for same URL has fallen badly (as such from page 1 rank 2 to page 5 or page 6). Please help guys, I really needed 301 redirect and I cant revert it now. And most of the traffic is from google.co.in (Indian Traffic) so cant manage to lost that also.
If you lost your position in india because you changed from a .in to a .com and this is the traffic that was fueling your site perhaps you should go back to your .in domain name. I find it is quite a bit easier to rank in .in and also .ca compared to ranking in google.com. Though really I should invest in a .us since that is where I would like the most traffic to come from.
i think you should wait for couple of days. i also observed that for my site when i implement 301. it take time to regain your serp.
do not worry right now. Build links for your .com site. Your site will be respectable with a TLD and not a regional domain name. So do not worry. The 301 should not affect much. Just wait. and in the meanwhile build a hell lot of back links. Peace.
Thank God. My rankings are rising. I rank better now even at Google.co.in, I think my 301 is still not implemented fully that was the problem. Google.com data centers updated SERPS fast so I saw rankings 1st there. Slowly my rank at co.in is rising as my pages are getting indexed and links getting transferred to it.
Yeah if you just wait and start trying to get some links from a few .in (related) sites then your rankings will further improve!
When you do 301 redirect or change titles etc, then such changes takes time to complete. You just d to wait for sometime and your old ranking will most probably return. You can make this process fast via getting some quality backlinks from sites with .co.in extension.
You should Do link building for your new domain. BCZ your Old domain has More backlinks Against new domain.
I would expect exactly that - I do not think a 301 redirect could bring you all the power your old site has. It is a matter of domain as well, by the way...
You have to observe it first before you go back to the older one.. Try to checked what would be the results, then a few days later update the pages.
It takes a little while to come back after doing a 301 I heard. Just give it a couple of weeks and see where that gets you.
301 redirect should not bring you a problem - you just need time. And your rankings will surely be back.
