One of my PR4 got listed in DMOZ 2 months ago. I was happy PR could go up after more sites got listed. Now I saw google, Alexa have listed it. But PR has no change. Why?

First off the goal of DMOZ is not to help sites with Googles PageRank. its simply a directory that Google and other people, sites and directories use.

Second getting a site of PageRank 5 isn't easy. you should focus your efforts on its content so other people link back to it. you will need lots of backlinks to get a site of PageRank 5

I had 11 deeplinks listed, then 3 now 5, never saw any PR (or traffic) changes based on DMOZ. Only thing that mattered is when some of my obscure key words would hit the news and then everyone would google it.

How many times have we said that a link from DMOZ is just that......it's merely a link. It isn't the majoc wand or the golden link that many webmasters consider it to be.

It was never intended to be an seo tool or anything other than what it is, which is a comprehensive, Human Edited Directory. :)

Google, as far as I know, still only updated their public PR once every three months, and even then, that is based on the data they have collected over the last few months. DMOZ does not update every category all the time, so google can sometimes be slow to incorporate ODP information into their computations. So it can take 3 months or more for it to show any change, and even then, it's just ONE link! If you add in the additional links into the mix, then it'll take a LOT longer then three months for the big G to find them all and to add them into the math. So before you'll see any change, assuming there will be one, it can take a year or more....

So it's not just a matter of getting into DMOZ, it's a matter of getting into their clones! To top that off, Google has devalued many directories, and DMOZ clones likely got hit rather hard, as they are not only directories, but also DUPLICATE content. That'll certainly not help as much as it used to... so chances are good you may NEVER see a change in your sites PR based on an ODP link.

a dmoz listing is very near invaluable. it's one of the 3 or 4 ture authorrty directories in the whole flapping dappy world. be happy

you'll need lots more backlinks to go from pr 4 to 5
