How Do I Market My Free Advertising Forum?

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by djdex93, May 26, 2009.

I have just opened a new free advertising forum and I am really struggling to get members to join. Is there something i should change on the site and maybe even offer as an incentive or should I hold a referral contest.

I am currently getting 1500 uv's per day, How can I market it and should i use offline marketing techniques?

your thoughts would be great, the link is in my signature.

    Thanks in advance, regards

Thanks for your suggestions, I will try some offline advertising. The site is less than 2 weeks old.

For a site that's only 2 week's old with 1200 U V a day look's like can be word of mouth and it's being passed on I see you should have no worries about marketing.

I feel like the best way to get a forum started would to build a network of friends in the industry who will support your cause at the beginning, because the hardest part will be starting the initial conversation. Once that happens, a snowball effect will occur with proper SEO work/promotion. However, no matter how high your site is ranked, nobody will register/participate if there is no active conversation.

I think one of The best ways to promote a free advertising forum is through other free advertising forum.

I am currently promoting it at other free advertising forums and also have a group of consistent posters commenting on each ad. I need more people to register rather than looks around so in time I will need to find some sought of tactic.

    any other thoughts?

Make sure you delete spam bots regulary as they will come shortly.

The trick is to be a proactive admin in this sense.

    Cheers

Offer some contest or prices to visitors to your forum. This can be a good idea.

Yes I was thinking of holding a referral contest and the winner receives $10 or something.

thanks for your suggestion, anyone else?

Visitors tend to get bored if the members in the forum site are just few. I could suggest that you hire 2 to 3 persons to post on your site, with different usernames, in that sense; the visitors could see that, there are active members on it.

This might not be a bad idea because I only have 4 active posters and the rest just come to spam!

thanks for your suggestion, anything else?

You could try using a Craigslist email harvester or Backpage, Kijiji, ect. and then email all of the posters a letter talking about how your forum would be more effective for them. Using a harvester is sorta black hat, but it works! :)
