You have to say that it is not Islam that is going to far it is individual countries that are going to far, people take things out of text and twist them around to suit what they think is best...I just say this as a standing principle regarding religion. Unless you are dead you can not tell me with a straight face that I am going to heaven or hell or nowhere....if you say to me the bible says...I will tell you that Jesus himself said I am not god, yet millions of people worship him bypassing "the creator of all", or what have you. The Quran states that only devout jews and christians are going to paradise....yet people ignore this little line in the quran as maybe a mistake???? which both examples are a form of blasphemy. take it or leave it. I don't know where I am going when I die, I might reincarnate as a meal worm or maybe I will go to heaven or hell or both or nowhere and my soul will just linger here who knows ok I am off subject....

We are not talking about the holy books. Books do not harm, books donot kill people by blowing up. It is the people who interpret and follow the books to the letter, who do.

 

Sorry jody, but jesus christ himself said he is god many many times in the bible. If you dont fully understand the bible as jesus spoke it in those times then how can you even say that you know what jesus said or didnt say.

That's just another way of saying that women in much of the arab world are taught from birth that they are basically properties of men. They are nothing more than veiled robots. Being trained from birth that you have a submissive role in society will tend to deter you from speaking out or getting out of line, and if it doesn't, there's always the threat of some harsh punishment or perhaps even public execution.

Also, you have to account for the differences in laws and how they are enforced. Maybe having more domestic violence cases/convictions is a good thing because it's a result of having good laws that are enforced.
