I tried Google search in my sites, but I was not lucky enough to get any good results. However, some sites may perform better with a search box. Of I suggest you try it in your site for few days and see if it increases your earnings.
Adsense for searches and clicks are usually associated with good eCPM but it's really hard to get a click.
Strange to hear so many doubters for Google custom search. From every single one that I have ever used, collectively I have a CTR of around 12-15%! It works very well. When a search is made, it usually throws up relevant ads at the very top (the first thing you see) and if the search is not showing anything worthwhile on your site they tend to click on those ads. Has always been much better for gettin clicks than with Adsense for content imo.
You on Blogger? -Setup Adsense for Search -Select Sites (i.e. just yoursite.blogspot.com/) -Setup a new channel -Set to "Open results within own site" -Enter URL where displayed (yoursite.blogspot.com/) -Width of results area (500px) -Ad location (top and bottom) -Choose colour theme =This will generate two lines of code - "Search Box Code" and "Search Results Code"! Use some Java widgets and place the two in that order at the very top of the page. This should work fine. You can always go in and re-edit. This was placed on the standard two column layout. Let me know how it goes. Can show you an example if you need one.
In my case since from 1 June until now in a News blog I've had 98 queries and 13 clicks, is that good, average?
I am glad to see and read someone is indeed making something out of it as I am not making much. it just gives me the reason to continue using it. Thanks JulieV
I am really new here but I always thought those adsense ads were spam. The only case I can think of when I would ever click on them would be if my mouse slipped.. I guess what I am wondering is: who is AdSense catering to ? And does it hurt the professionalism of your website? Obviously its working for many on this forum, but I think, and this is JUST A SUSPICION, without any proof, that the more intelligent and professional your site is, the less likely your visitors are to click on the ads? Its like in that movie about the future (Robocop with Rocky in it), where everybody watches commercial, instead of TV! Of course I could have this concept totally wrong. -Igor
