Best OS for Dedicated Server?

    alright, im looking to get a dedicated server, 2.0GHZ, 1gb ram 80gb etc...

    was wondering what Os would use the LEAST amount of resoures (ram mainly)

    any help on that would be great

    CentOS is the most favored but I run a home server for friends/family (game servers) and I use Fedora Core 8, it runs great.

    for hosting I'd recommend CentOS or Red Hat.

    i would go for windows. you can use xrumer and a lot of apps on it. just install an rdp on it and your set.

    Still, depends on what you are using it for. CentOS and Ubuntu seem to be the most popular.

    i prefer centos 5.3 if you are using just 1 or 2 gb ram use 32bit if more than 4gb use 64bit :)

    CentOS/Rhel are favoured for servers but Ubuntu is also getting popular these days.As, Ubuntu is more user friendly than CentOS
