I had more than 12,000 visitors in one day, Don't exactly know why!!!!

I created two blogs one with adsense and chitika and one with CPA and Clickbank. The blogs are about "google trends" and "yahoo most searched news". Different tittles same niche. After I posted articles on them I submitted them to social bookmarkings thorugh onlywire and ping o matic.

What I am trying to figure is why one took off almost instantly. The one with google adsense was indexed by MSN the same day and a lot of the articles showed on the first page, up to now I'm getting average 1500 visitors per day. Last weeekend for example I had more than 12000 visitors in one day. It just exploded, now it came back to 1500 visitors average.

The other one however never took off, did the same thing and get maybe 10 to 20 visitors a day even though it is the same niche.

This is the URL to the site Hot Off the Press News

Most the articles I posted are rehashed, I change the tittle and add to most of them on the first paragraph, again this site is not even my priority, I only work on it maybe 30 minutes per day but hey visitors keep on coming

    Any thoughts

This was sort of an experiment, I have my long term blog that I'm working on with Google.

It probably has very little to do with adsense and everything to do with the title/content considering you just made these blog posts so Offpage SEO is out of the question. Only factor is onpage seo and the titles you used. Chances are it was a hot topic (like you stated) and you slightly changed your title to get a unique score in the SE while being relevant enough to rank for the original phrase. I see no comments left on your blog posts which is weird considering the traffic should be highly targeted due to the focus on ONpage SEO. If you check analytics you will know exactly "why" you got this traffic and where it came/comes from.

I guess your blog got picked up by another social media site and just happened to end up on the front page, hence the hugh number of visitors. Have the numbers dropped off now?

Right now the average is still between 1000 t0 1200 visitors per day and it increases on the weekend, and most of it is from MSN and some from Google, I use the plugin statpress reloaded so that is how I'm tracking visitors

Statpress gives you a very generous estimate of traffic. For one of my dead blogs it says it has 156 pageviews yesterday. Analytics reports that it had like 9.

To be sure, check your log file and see if you really are getting search queries, or googlebots, or what it is.

Well statpress gives four categories, page views, visitors, spiders, rss feeds, I also compare it with Adsense impressions and Chitika impressions which is only from search engines. usualy stat press says I get almost 2000 vpageviews but only about 1200 visitors. Chitika average impressions are from 900 to 1100 average, so I check everything and get my average.

I would try analytics for an accurate estimate of your visitors. Either way, the titles of your news stories were probably picked up by a social networking site or a news site. The titles probably happend to be the hot current topics, hence the visitors. You will be lucky to maintain the same number of visitors with no targeted keywords. What keywords are you targeting if any and what type of competition do you have?

Mostly MSN, a couple of hits from Google and it is not copied, that would be too easy and I am sure I would not get this many visitors, I use content boss to wrangle content plus I change the tittle and content on first paragraph, adn anywhere else I need to change it, copied is too loose of a term don't you think. Oh yeah Google does not care about this site. still good though. I have my own project with Google, PR 2 one year project.

I think that people are right in saying that you just got in the right place at the right time with this. Especially considering that you had another site that was very similar that did not have nearly the success. Maybe one got indexed faster by the search engines than the other or garnered some sort of natural links to it that boosted its rankings. I would look into the inbound links, as that may tell you part of the story.

I already did, and who will banned me, MSN, For what? Not likely, the more I post the more they like this site. They're the ones where I get most of my traffic Make some sense when you post something or at least explain your reasoning.
