I've had a click bomber on one of my sites today. 27 clicks from 60 pages visited, resulting in a $12 credit to my Google account. This is compared to a typical day of 5 clicks/$2-3. Logs confirmed it was all from one visitor. IP address harvested and Auntie Google have been informed of the details.
Surprised Google's auto screening didn't recognise this as a click bomb, but they have all the details now so that IP address will be monitored on my site in future. Google will probably reimburse the advertisers that were incorrectly charged for the clicks involved.
What are you talking about dude ! If your CTR becomes high immediately then surely there's a bee in your toast. By this way we can get info.
how and where does one get the log file from? From your hosting server? Also how did you recognize that the clicks were from that specific IP?
I have a tracking script (Sitemeter) on the domain. It gives details of visitors and IP addresses. It stuck out like a sore thumb from the number of pages visited.
What I concern about is that what would happen if we fail to report it to google adsense? It is really vulnerable when exposing to a click bomber if somone set you up.
It's true that as a publisher, it can sometimes be difficult to monitor site accounts 24/7. Click bomb attacks don't have to be reported as they happen though, but can be retrospectively reported to Google. I'm sure Google has software in place to trap click bomb attacks as well, so they actively manage our accounts in real time. In short, reporting suspicious looking activity helps them out, and proves your own integrity as a publisher. I just feel better if I report things myself. As long as you don't click your own ads, you're pretty safe.
Hi Little while ago I bought software AdsenseClickLocker. Didnt use it yet, but I'm going to when my network of websites will be ready. Since I didnt use it, I cant tell you if its good, but it has bunch of protecting features including clickbomb protection and many others. Google it, maybe its what you need. Hope this helps.
Times have changed and google no longer punishes the publisher for such attacks. It is good if you notice the same and report it immediately but it is definitely not absolutely necessary. Google would automatically detect such one IP click bombarding and is known to thrash them into dustbin without much ado! Regards, RightMan
It was good earning but since it came from one ip address, it was a waste. Might be some one is trying to ruin your business. Anyway you took a right step buddy.
I must admit I was a bit startled when I clicked my monthly stats. I thought I was looking at a monthly accrued amount rather than a daily one. Must have been ok or it would have disappeared by now.
