Why is everyone still worried about PR??

In my opinion PR helps me out in no way. Now for all the fanatics that love PR I guess its good if you wanna sell links on your high PR sites. But as far as getting more traffic it has nothing to do with it.
Isnt traffic what we are all after??

For instance type in google search "make money" The first site there is only a PR2.

Lots of people on the first page have low PR and sometimes none at all.

So what is it with all you PR fanatics?

Peoples still need to realize that PageRank is a "Clock that always ticking", Most of the webmasters/bloggers want to "Show Off" their home-page rank, Fact is that Google changing pages PR every second.

Human race just can't live without competition, Google made a decent tool that making buzz for years now, Bravo for them -> They all mumble around about their home-page PR but Google just doing their job every second ;)

That's why Google is my model for imitation.

I think if you view the source you can see why it’s at the top. I want to clarify my point. You are beating the Forbes site under you buy that page beating your traffic flow and your. You are doing great. I’m not a PageRank fan worshiper either. If people really understood the meaning of the little green bar maybe they wouldn’t be so mesmerized by it size. It’s just a great tool to see the weight of a page. The page you’re competing against is a Pagerank 2 as well. Your traffic is driving the Serp, Right?

The reason I think pr is important is because it gives other people the impression that your site is an authority and they will more likely link to it. Would you respect wikipedia as much if it had a pr 1?

    Define good?

The internet is about information, if you find what you were looking for on a low PR site, will it be defined as bad?

The internet is ever evolving and people hate to change once they are in a spot knowing whats going on. A couple of years ago it was all about PR and it is changing now every day. My low PR sites gets more visitors than my high ranked ones so I'm not really bothered by PR anymore.

this has been discussed many times. PR is nothing more than a shorthand way of summing up how 'important' google thinks your page is. In much the same way as you might say someone is 'beautiful'. Being 'beautiful' incorporates many qualities - its a *shorthand way* of describing something complex.

now yell me again how you don't want people to think you are 'beautiful'.

I really still confuse about PR. I have tried to find answer in many forums, but still not find yet. At least with a high PR web, we can sell backlink and get money, he he

i think its become goal for every webmaster that they have pr on them site , and yeah i also see many bloggers those are saying that pr is nothing but when them blog or forum get pr 5 or above they start screaming that we get pr we get pr , So its myth , its show off , and it is a goal for every webmaster (maybe not for every but for mostly it does) .

If you are a link trader you must worry about PR, why? because value or not your space for link depend on the PR, except you are not a link trader. For traffic if your website traffic comes from google and you don't have good PR, your website will be not popular and you can not compete with other website that has good PR. maybe what I say most of your agree about this...

Mate, this is what known as the mentality of the crowd. The more you have the PR you have the more chance to earn, it is true for blogs or websites which generally don't sale any products. So for their earning process they need to either sell links from their site or selling the blog post from their blog. 9 out of 10 people will never purchase a link or blog post from the person who has the white bar.

Let me tell you one example which I my self faced, when the PR of one of my website was 3, it was getting around 10-12K UV per month, while people use to offer me around $120 for a link from my site. They use to offer around $100-$150 for a blog post from my site too, while once it's PR went down to 0, no one will consider to purchase a link or blog post from my site. That's why I too even left to approach people for selling purpose. Now the most interesting fact is that my site is at the moment getting around 30K UV monthly and around 75% of this is from the Search Engines, specially Google.

Now what will you say about this? Is the guy's who are looking for promoting their website is looking for traffic? or for PR? In fact I have seen that 8 out of 10 people are really not a good judge of website, they only consider any website as good if they see a green bar at the toolbar.

Thats not true, I have low PR sites that rank top 3 and get 90% of all searches for the specific keyword.

PR is out of date as well. Like mentioned earlier, google updates this info all the time but we only see the change each update. So the current PR could be as much as 3 months out of date.

Personally I don't care for it. I have had PR4 sites that get next to no traffic and sites that have never had a PR that get loads of traffic. It may be good if you are selling links, but that in itself can dilute the importance of your site.

The domain name and having decent content on the site is far more important , PR is a minor consideration.

I think that we are speaking about good or bad site in the SEO subject (not from a point of view of the regular user). Although the PR is not taking too serious right now it's still one of the most important factors that would make you wanna place link on the site - if it has high PR, links aren't nofollow and subject is connected to your site it's all you need to know and want!

PS Very often the websites with higher PR are the one that are more trustworthy.

PR still does play a role in a website, it just isn't the end all and be all. Websites with high PR have the potential to rank higher than other lower ranked websites if they are structured and optimized properly. Usually when you see a low PR site out ranking a high PR website there are quite a few different variables as to why.

Also, don't forget that the toolbar and all those PR tools aren't neccessarily correct. They take a long time to update and sometimes just get the PR of a website wrong entirely. The only one who really knows the true PR of a website is Google.
