I put familycrown.com up for sale at Sedo and got a reply within 2 days from the president of a real estate company in the UK. I told him I'm asking $1200 for it and he said that is fine but he would like me to get it appraised first. The company he represents is Online Brokerage at http://theonlinebrokerage.com. He pointed me in the direction of http://domainexplorer.org to get my domains appraised. Has anyone heard of this company and does anybody know of a good place where I can get my domains appraised?

It's a nice domain but the appraisal fee seems very high. I'd be careful as long as you have no binding agreement with the buyer to cover your cost in some way.

What ever you do, do not get your domain apprised there. It is a scam, they say they are interested but will only buy if you get it appraised at their site. But they wont buy it but still get some money from you.

colude.com and quikn.com sounds good, But the only thing which makes them valubale is the "Development" of these domains into sucessfull websites.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'm pretty new to this domain buying and selling business. I didn't get my domains appraised after all. I don't think they're worth more than the reg fees like deep chop pointed out. And I didn't trust domainexplorer.org when I first visited it, the site looks very amateurish. I emailed that president of theonlinebrokerage saying my domains are for sale at Sedo.com for $50 and I haven't heard back from him :)

A real buyer will appraise at his own cost. Most buyers don't need appraisals, especially if they already have a project in mind. Appraisals are something that a seller will get before a domain is put up for sale, to justify the asking price.

Any "buyer' asking you to get an appraisal from a certain company, works for the appraisal company.
A domain without revenue, does not need an appraisal, the value is in the eye of the buyer, and previous sales of similar domains, and a domain with revenue is worth the revenue x (time).

Never get a domain appraised at the request of a buyer, especially from a recommended appraisal company.
