The Almanac of the Federal Judiciary reports the following: Sotomayor can be tough on lawyers, according to those interviewed. "She is a terror on the bench." "She is very outspoken." "She can be difficult." "She is temperamental and excitable. She seems angry." "She is overly aggressive--not very judicial. She does not have a very good temperament." "She abuses lawyers." "She really lacks judicial temperament. She behaves in an out of control manner. She makes inappropriate outbursts." "She is nasty to lawyers. She doesn't understand their role in the system--as adversaries who have to argue one side or the other. She will attack lawyers for making an argument she does not like". . . . Both Roberts and Alito have favorable reviews and are generally well regarded. Yeah. But he is still historic.
No. You tried to claim that the Court doesn't look at 99% of the cases brought before it. Your exact quote was: The other 99% it doesn't look at in the first place. - that's clearly, utterly - WRONG The Court looks at 100% of the cases brought before it. Not 1% - 100%. And they issue Term Opinions on those cases they choose not to bring before the bench. I understand what you are trying to do, but you are wrong. You should take the time to study the Court and understand how it works. Your exact quote was: The other 99% it doesn't look at in the first place. - that's clearly, utterly - WRONG Ignoring the things I wrote that make you look wrong, makes you look afraid, doesn't it? Your exact quote was: The other 99% it doesn't look at in the first place. - that's clearly, utterly - WRONG You. Lost. The. Debate. Admit. It. It. Is. Embarrassing. For. You.
This is simply not true. The SCOTUS often do not accept a case and make no comment whatsoever. No opinion, no comment, nothing other than refusing to hear the case. You are misinformed if you think they comment on every case that they do not agree to hear.
Hey There Zibblu I Agree With You 100 Percent On This One Those So Called 99% I Totally Out Of Left Field
Why would you type the first letter of every word capitalized? That is the important part. She lacks the professionalism needed for a SCOTUS justice.
No, that's not what Zibblu said, and even his above statement is incorrect. His original statement was "The other 99% it doesn't look at in the first place.". That, and Zibblu's original statement, are both incorrect. The court looks at EVERY case that is brought to their attention, and of the cases that are not brought to the bench, an opinion is offered. So, yes, they "look at" every single case, and they "bother" with every single case, and an opinion is offered for EVERY SINGLE CASE. Zibblu should try some reading comprehension.
I don't know why you keep insisting on something that is so blatantly false. The Supreme Court rejects a case with two words "Cert. Denied" Your claim that an opinion is offered in every case simply has no basis in fact. You are making an ass of yourself insisting otherwise.
Oh boy! Pat her on the head! She belongs to a minority group! Make that 2 minority groups! (female) Well, she's just so special isn't she! Any success from someone of a minority group should be special because they are underprivileged, and apparently not as capable. So let's celebrate!!!
Jesus. This isn't "pat her on the head" ... this is she finished SECOND IN HER CLASS AT PRINCETON. This is more judicial experience than any SC justice nominee in the last 100 years. If she were a white male people people wouldn't even consider saying she's not qualified. It's preposterous. Oh yeah, and I'm sure this really rankles the ankles of the racist white dudes in this forum (and I think we have plenty) but yeah, she's a LOT smarter than you.
Showing yourself for the racist you are, I'm glad you make it easy for me. You have no proof that her belonging to these 2 "poor little minority" groups is the reason anyone is saying she's unqualified. You're just an insecure racist that is pissed off cause not EVERYONE in America fully supports the president yet, which must mean they're racist. I'm sure it was fun and easy being a hateful little racist during Obama's run and win at presidency, but people are getting tired of playing race cards with you. lmao. I hope you know George W. Bush is a LOT smarter than you. Did you know that? How's it make you feel? Awwww. And care to show me all these racist white dudes we have in the forum? Or is that just more of your hateful racism coming out? Let it out man, down with white people!
Dude, you used to be somewhat reasonable - but you are getting out of hand. I may have to add you to my troll list and that would be unfortunate as there are not that many people left to talk to here. The thing is, George W. Bush is not smarter than me. That's what so amusing about this whole thing. George W. Bush only got to where he is because he has lived a life of extreme privilege. He only got into an Ivy League school because of who his father is. He didn't get good grades much less finish SECOND IN HIS CLASS at one of the top universities in the world. And I write that in all caps because it's so mind blowing to me that folks on the right have actually questioned her intelligence. It's just flat out preposterous. Sotomayor has had to overcome many obstacles to achieve what she has achieved. Does that mean she should be favored over someone else who didn't have to work so hard to get to where they are? No, not necessarily. But it certainly does mean that her accomplishments shouldn't be devalued because of her race and gender. Furthermore calling me a racist for calling people out on their racism is just STUPID. You're better than that. Please try again. It's not "racism" or "reverse racism" (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean) for calling out white dudes on their (real) racism. It's just not. Try to come up with some term that makes more sense. Because this one is BULLSHIT. And I'm calling you out on it. Come with something legitimate or don't come at all. If you come spouting this kind of mindless Rush Limbaugh BS then you might as well not saying anything at all. Sorry to all of the sad little privileged white males out there who are so tired of being prejudiced against! Oh gosh! Life must be so hard for you! God that makes me sick. Read a history book. Get some perspective. Better yet, how about some EMPATHY!
i watch no one. just did a google for alito and italian actually was looking for a video of him being promoted as italian american
I think you're missing the point of the celebration Minorities who achieve success on the level that Mrs. Sotomayor has are celebrated for a completely different reason. It's not because of the color of their skin, but because of the obstacles they've overcome. I'd celebrate any white male who grew up in a trailer park with a single mother and went on to graduate from Harvard. I'd look at him and think. That guy is probably someone who knows what it's like to be at the bottom and knows the real impact his decisions will have on ordinary citizens. If minorities from the projects routinely earned appointments to the supreme court I'd stand with you and say what's all the fuss about. But we all know that is not the case so, why the disdain? While we're on the subject. I wonder, do you think being a person of pigment is no longer a handicap in our society? I'm not asking if you think it's as strong as it ever was. Clearly it's not. But do you think it's gone all together?
Good point GeorgeB. I think Bill Clinton's story is pretty impressive too - and he's a white male. But a white male who didn't grow up with the special privileges that so many of our most successful politicians did (see George W. Bush, Al Gore, and John Kerry for some examples.) I'm certainly not saying I necessarily discount the success of someone who got a "head start" on life (I'm a pretty big Al Gore fan and his father was a Senator.) But I do think it is a bit more impressive when someone really did "pull themselves up by their boot straps" to make something of themselves.
Be logical pal and we'll get through this I promise. Point #1. On what basis are you saying she is smarter than me? Academics? Ok, so if we're going by academics, do you have a degree from Yale? Do you have an MBA? If not, GWB is definitely smarter than you. Tough shit. Why you made that point initially, we'll never know. Point #2. You're not calling me out on anything, I'm calling you out. Show me the people and their arguments that are supposedly "devaluing her accomplishments" based on her gender and race. Point #3. Show me the racist white dudes. Enough fluffy bullshit, don't try to avoid my post this time.
Zibblu, ironically, the pull yourself up by the bootstraps type person is exactly the person the Republicans are always claiming they want to support. They dislike the lazy no good bums who let the ghetto consume them and don't just "get out of there". All they want is for the little guy to not need government help and do it all themselves just like everyone else who doesn't have those same obstacles. But when that person does it themselves and happens to be a democratic supreme court nominee, well..... then the very few and faint attempts the conservatives try to make at being populist start to become a bit transparent.
