If you've used this site, it would be good to hear of your experiences. Thank you.

I've seen this around but never got a chance to use it. There's a couple of other sitemap sites that do a decent job. This site looks to be pretty good. Unfortunately, I don't have a reason to try out to give my opinion of it. Have you used it?

Not yet Alan . . . but my reason for asking is whether or not the URL in my sig would be difficult for it to create a sitemap for? Just curious if you can take a gander at my sourceview & offer your opinion? Always appreciate your feedback & opinion. My site has a daily image & also RSS feed so wonder if that would interfere?
PS: My sig on very left

From my understanding a sitemap is just a page containing all the links on your site. I'm not sure about the RSS feed. I don't think you'd have a problem. I guess the only way to know for sure is to try it out. The worst that will happen is it won't turn out right and you'll have to try out another one.

The alternative is to create a sitemap by hand. It's very very time consuming, but it will be the way you want.

Yes, I've also used xml-sitemaps before. It works very well, but the free version limits the amount of links it will generate per site. I think it's around 500? So, if you have a large site with many links, then the paid version would be better.

    Alan:
I'm curious, is my main index pge in need of a sitemap then? Can you look at the sourcecode behind www.danscartoons.com as I already have a page rank of 5. Curious.

I would say no for the simple fact that sitemaps are used mainly to let search engines know about every link on your site. If your links can be found within the first three pages deep, then it's really not necessary. Most search engine spiders won't go much further than three pages deep.

Another use is if you have A LOT of pages, and you want to provide a page for your site visitors to find everything on that one page.

In the case of your website, it looks simple and easy to navigate. I would say you can get away without it, unless you have pages that aren't indexed by Google or other search egines. If that's the case, then make sure you link to them from the index page or one page deep so the search engines can find them easily. Or, create a sitemap, and submit your sitemap to Google to ensure that every single page will be found and indexed.

In the case of my website, I have a lot of pages and links, so a sitemap becomes more of a necessity for me.
