Please help. MS Word problem

    Hi!
    My friend is mailing me a file in .docx format but when i download it to my PC from my mails it doesn't open. Pop up box appears saying about File Conversion and when i clicked on any of the option then all i saw in the document is small boxes with few strange symbols.

    Please help what is happening.
    Why i couldn't able to see actual content in that document?

    Maybe file is corrupt.

    BTW have tried to open in in gmail through option "View as HTML" ? Check with that and see how it looks there.

    Your friend might be using MS Word 2007 or higher, and you might be using a lower version. So, ask your friend to save the document, as Word 97-2003 document and then send it to you. It will open.

    Or you can download some converter tool.

    Yes, gayathrib83 is right. Docx is an extension for word 2007. You can download such a tool from microsoft website it's free.

    file is not corrupt... Its Office 2007 file.. you need to download Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack from Microsoft Website :)
