Page rank Down the reasons?

Website klatcher dot com page rank got down from 3--->0.
Is it ok to submit press release like website Prweb and few other paid press release websites? Paid directories are not a good idea but is it the same thing with press release websites.
klatcher jsut changed there target keywords before it was ranking greaat against sell content but now they just switched to self publishing, web publishing etc.

These types of problems are extremely difficult for others to trouble shoot. The problem lies in the fact that we do not know about the site's history. Only the webmaster, owner, or site SEO would know what is needed to pinpoint the cause of such a problem because typically only they would know what your backlink profile "USED" to be when the home page was PR3.

I can tell you that if your home page's Google toolbar PR dropped from PR3 to PR0 then that means your home page is being passed less PR from its inbound links. This could be caused by many things...

    1) Perhaps there was a really high PR site (like PR5 or PR6) that was giving your home page most of its PR and the link was removed from the high PR site for whatever reason.

    2) Perhaps several medium to high PR sites which previously linked to your home page dropped links to your site's home page.

    3) Perhaps one or more sites linking to your home page experienced an extreme drop in PR themselves because those sites lost credit for inbound links that were driving their PR up. Since their PR dropped, they will be passing you less 'juice'.

    4) Perhaps one or more pages that used to link to your home page have fallen out of Google's index. If a page is not indexed at Google then it cannot pass you page rank even if it has a link to your site on it.

    5) Perhaps you used to have MANY more pages on your own site indexed which used to all pass PR to your home page because of navigation links on the site. If a bunch of pages on your site drop out of Google's index, they will no longer contribute to the PR of your home page.

    6) Perhaps one or more pages that link to your site have been devalued because they are being penalized for violating one or more of Google's Webmaster Guidelines. If a page linking to your URL has been penalized, its outbound links will typically be devalued to nothing so that it doesn't pass PR to other pages.

    7) Perhaps another site had site-wide links to your site and have since dropped your home page from their site-wide links.

    8) One or more links that were previously "do" FOLLOW links may have been changed to NOFOLLOW links.

These are just a few of the reasons that your may have seen a drop in PR. Without knowing your home page's previous backlink profile it's hard to say which of these (or possibly what other changes) might have caused the sudden drop.

All I can say for sure is that looking at your home page backlink profile at Yahoo! Site Explorer I see only 14 inbound links from external sites. Here's what I found:

Links that Google would NOT count:

    http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/09/19/facebook-connect-spotted-in-the-wild-will-beacon-finally-die/ - Indexed at Google - PR4 - NOFOLLOW
    http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/09/20/envato-launches-theme-marketplace-for-your-blog/ - Indexed at Google - PR3 - NOFOLLOW
    http://wiki.startupcamp.org/wiki/StartupCamp5AttendeeList - Indexed at Google - PR5 - NOFOLLOW
hthttp://www.sophotec.com/ - 302 redirect to http://www.klatcher.com/sophotec which 301 redirects to http://klatcher.com/sophotec - PR3 - The 302 redirect causes you NOT to get credit for the old inbound links to sophotec.com - Might want to consider changing it to a 301.
http://wiki.startupcamp.org/index.php?title=StartupCamp5AttendeeList&printable=yes - NOT INDEXED AT GOOGLE
http://www.adgabber.com/profile/Johannes - NOT INDEXED AT GOOGLE
http://www.blogcatalog.com/topic/split+test/ - Indexed at Google - PR=Current page not ranked by Google - LINK TO klatcher.com DOES NOT EXIST ON PAGE ANY MORE
http://www.blogcatalog.com/topic/paid-content/ - Indexed at Google - PR=Current page not ranked by Google - LINK TO klatcher.com DOES NOT EXIST ON PAGE ANY MORE
http://www.blogcatalog.com/topic/content+publishing/ - Indexed at Google - PR=Current page not ranked by Google - LINK TO klatcher.com DOES NOT EXIST ON PAGE ANY MORE
http://www.justmakemoneyonline.com/page/10/?jal_no_js=true&poll_id=3/ - NOT INDEXED AT GOOGLE
http://www.insidetech.com/news_feed...roxy.google.com/~r/Techcrunch/~3/YJvd7OmiB0I/ - NOT INDEXED AT GOOGLE

    Links that Google WOULD count:

http://www.justmakemoneyonline.com/2008/09/03/klatcher-sell-premium-online-content/ - Indexed at Google - PR=Page currently not ranked by Google - FOLLOW
    http://www.tnk-clan.dk/ - Indexed at Google - PR0 - FOLLOW image link
http://notrial.info/news/it/2203.html - Indexed at Google - PR0 foreign .info site - FOLLOW LINK

So it appears (assuming that Google knows about these same links) that you have only 2-3 inbound links to your home page.

    rehmanasghar,

You should start your own thread. You will get a better response than if you post your own question on someone else's thread.

Maybe... But I doubt it. Based on looking at your backlinks through Yahoo! your site should be PR0. You have 3 inbound links that are either PR0 or Not ranked (probably a PR0 as well just not showing in Toolbar).

You can take a hit when you 301 redirect URLs (which is what your developer did when he changed it from www to non-www). You have to wait for all of your inbound links to be recrawled and the 301s discovered for each of those links before the target URL of the redirect is given credit for all of the inbound links to the old redirected URL. But I don't think this is your problem. You simply have almost no backlinks, and the 3 or so you have are very weak.

Changing URL from www to without www, will make you loose PR unless you use 301 redirect.

It is being done adding 301 to .htaccess file so this can be the final reason right?

Not likely. The 'real' reason you are PR0 now is that you only have about 3 URLs that are passing you PR and all 3 of those URLs themselves have very little PR (PR0 or not currently ranked).

Your site is not a PR3 site with only 3 links from PR0 sites. It deserves only a PR0 based on your known do FOLLOW backlinks. You need many more such links or some links from higher PR sites to get back to PR3.
