What to do with 20million (yes 20million) emails?

I have a list I have compiled from various sources totalling a little shy of 20 million distinct and verified email addresses... I was considering promoting one of my sites, but I dont even know of an email program that could handle something like this. Any ideas?

Well I'm in favor of the death penalty for spammers so, no, I don't have any ideas.

Are these opt-in emails or harvested?

If they are opt-in, I see no problem in marketing your site. But, if they have been harvested, why not delete them.

By "various sources" you mean some guy in Russia who charged you $100 for the database?

There is no way you legally compiled a list of 20 million email addresses.

It is a combination of years of compiling both purchased lists, lists from websites I used to own, mostly opt in... I am not a fan of spam either, but a lot of these are legit. Not sure what I wanna do, just curious i guess!

I really think you should be handling mass email with care since you are in risk of being flagged as a spammer

that's pretty scary right there...you had better be sure, you send out 20 million emails to people who didn't sign up for it and you'll be in a world of hurt.

purchased lists are not reliable as they've most likely been harvested, and anything you collected yourself that is more than a year old will be out of date. i'd spend a LOT of time cleaning the data before considering sending

if the case is that this is not an opt-in list then I could say without a doubt that the list is useless, sending stuff to people without their permission is like pure spaming...

Go easy there fella. You can do time for spam! Suggest you only use the ones you can confirm as opt-in and are less than a couple of months old?

If you've got a legitimate list, you could probably use someone like constant contact.

Guess you could sell them to other wannabe spammers. But if you use them, you are looking for trouble.

That list would never get through a screening from a legit e-mail marketing company like constant contact. I might consider taking the last 3 months worth of data and sending a double opt-in confirmation e-mail.

no doubt, constant contact is pretty strict. the list may be worth something if it's double opt'ed and rinsed a few times.

If it has been over the years, ya thik that maybe that 20 million has dwindled down quite a bit??? Maybe by half, if not more?

Have you tried Aweber? If they can't help you, maybe they know of another service?
