I have heard that MS is mainly interested in the search segment of yahoo and if that be the case, I certainly hope the combination should be able to do something worthwhile for the whole search engine market. Let the ball roll......the internet might soon have a good search alternative! Regards, RightMan
I don't think so... Yahoo was worth 47 mil $ and now it's worth 20 mil. If they sell the loose to much so i think they'll survive the crisis and then try to sell it to MIcrosoft.
I heard about this story last year .. I read about it actually in official Yahoo news somewhere in the internet .. But I remember that Yahoo declined the offer saying that Microsoft underestimated their company .. Good or bad , Absolutely good .. For the best of the net !
I agree with whoispixel. They would be dumb to sell it now. They will sell it now only if they really need that money Google needs a better competitor imo.
yahoo will get picked appart by microsoft if yahoo lets them. So far in this world, there are only 3 leading search engines... Live, Yahoo, Google. Now what happens if the bottom two combine? Google would probably advance their lead much much further while Yahoo and Microsoft are busy hugging and kissing. Yahoo will not be sold to Microsoft, and I applaud them for resisting Microsoft.
Yahoo's CEO said Wednesday she was open to discussing a Microsoft acquisition, provided the deal were sweet. During an onstage interview at the All Things D conference in Carlsbad, California, Carol Bartz said she'd consider the right offer from Microsoft. "If there's boatloads of money and the right technology involved, we'd do a deal, sure," she was quoted as saying in the Wall Street Journal. "It's that simple."
Ofcourse it's bad. Microsoft developing bing, plus MSN Live + Yahoo? Google would get it's ass kicked pretty nasty. Unless Google goes around buying stuff too... let the bidding war begin ) But seriously Yahoo is not going to sell, Microsoft is not going to buy. And the for competitors for 2010 will be Yahoo, Google, MSN, and maybe Wolfram Alpha....
I doubt they'll merge. Absolutely two different companies. And imo Yahoo! is getting less and less popular.
That was possible before when MS made their offer but now I am not so sure. Today I received a mail from Yahoo saying that they are closing down Yahoo 360; before that it was Geocities. Pretty soon they are going to shut down everything if they don't merge with MS.
