I know PR has no much bearing on SERPs ranking, but why the drop, anyone knows? Got PR 2 but and drop in the SERPs or dissapeared alltogether, I wish I could trade SERPs ranking to no PR. I hope someone can give some sort of answer. Thanks Ruben
How long have you been at that spot in the SERPs? Its probably just temporary if you haven't been there long, just keep link building and doing what you usually do.
My site was steadily moving up for about three weeks and then everything went crazy with this update, my site dissapeared alltogether for a week, came back to the SERPs with a drop and a couple days later it showeed up with different keyword rankings that I'm not even pursuing so yeah crazy for the past week, hopefully it settles in the next couple of weeks.
If you have dropped it would suggest one of 2 things. Its either your site or your competitors. I would have a close look at your links, make sure they have not dropped. Make sure you are only using ethical methods that wont get you punished. The other possibility is that your competitors have been doing some work, have a look at your competitors sites, who is linking in to them? how many links do they have, what anchor text are they using. For my own and my client sites I run reports every month on inbound links for the site and most importantly the competitor sites. I can't stress enough how important it is to know what the competition are doing.
Ha Ha, this appeared while I was writing my post. if you not being doing it for an established period I wont worry about it. It takes the search engines a while to decide where you deserve to be.
Google is currently updating so you can expect the SERPS to go a little crazy, but it should stabilize after a week or two.
Theres definitely some fluctuation around but remember that other sites as well as yours might have been upgraded in PR.
I have noticed every few weeks my sites in flux with the SERPS, sometimes I will be #5 then #11 then #15 then back to #7 or so, its reletive because some of your backlinks may be expired, or some of your competition may be doing more SEO related things giving them a boost over you. The best thing to do, is every few days, analize your competition and see if they are doing anything new, getting new links, new directory submissions, and such, usually its the same sites overtaking you in the SERPS.
Might be Google dance. Ranking fluctuation is normal. Just keep on building links to get a stable ranking.
How old is your site? If its a new site, like a few weeks old site, then such ups and downs in SERPs is a normal thing. Try to get some relevant and quality backlinks; this will help your site to get a stable position in SERPs. It is also possible that your site get back to the old position or get back to a higher place in 2-3 days.
let say pr is the measurement of google to be able to identify your backlinks, but when it comes to ranking on serp there are lots of factors why google prioritize a website on the highest rank which are: quality backlinks, content, keyword, keyword density and so on...
Let me ask you a question, How competitive your targeted keyword is? The dropped in your site ranking could be because your competitor done a better job compare to yours. Your site could be beaten when it comes to the number of quality links or even on its on-page stuffs. PR has a little effect on SERP, I don't think it will affect much and can result to a drop
