Hello, Yesterday we all found out that a major PR update is going on, my question is will there be a SERP update shortly after it or its just a PR value that will change???! my sites PR changed but not its SERPS!!
Ok, but in the April update 2 months ago I got %500 more traffic to one of my site after the PR update, it went from page 17 to page 1. How do you explain that? is it coincidence.
Internal PR changes every time you get a valid backlink. The PR toolbar shows an external PR change only after 2-3 months. PR is one among the 200 factors which affect SERP. Traffic is another factor which affect the Search Engine Rank Position.
The answer of this question is both Yes and No. No - because PR is only one minor factor in Google ranking algo these days *BUT* Yes - PR has been calculated by backlinks and "some" myth factor that we, people outside Google, will never know. However, even PR itself does not calculated only by backlinks in these days but it is a reflection on your overall linking efforts and several factor which will reflect on your site ranking with no doubt.
Up dation of serps is pretty dynamic with result getting reflected immediately where as for PR, even though the up dation is fairly regular too, google chooses to display the aggregate of the whole process only after every 2-3 months. Your site getting a lot of traffic after a PR update would just be a coincidence...nothing else! Regards, RightMan
