I am trying to buy a domain that expired more than 60 days ago. Why is it still unavailable for purchase?

It may be bcoz current domain registry has not released the domain from their registry. Wait for some more days and if it remains the same then you can contact that registry.

Once a Domain expires, it is available only after 75 days...Its basically like 45 + 30+5 days after the expiry date.. so you can try after 75 days or place a backorder niw if you dnt wanna loose it so that you get it as soon as it becomes free..

I went ahead with a backorder.

Is it a good thing to register for more than one service (pool/namejet/snapnames) . since they only take your money if you win from their service, would you only be charged once??

Yeah, you'll only get charged by whichever one gets it for you. By the way if Pool.com gets it they will put it in namescout.com so remember to move it away from them before it needs renewing because they charge a whopping $50 for renewalls.

Manytimes it is still held by the domain name registrar. Sometimes, it is even listed for auction in the domain registrar's database. Just make sure you keep checking up on it.
