How would I go about completing a video tutorial for engineering software program (to provide step by step instructions)? Are there any Open Source programs that I could use for actual recording, editing, text overlays, compression, etc.?

    Thanks!

For recording use a screen capture program
For editing use Sony Vegas (30 day trial)

I just downloaded Camstudio. Will give that a try.

Camstudio - cost 299.00 - that's a little more than I would like to pay. The open source should work for what I would like to accomplish.

Has anybody tried both of these programs and if so is there a significant difference in quality with the paid application? I would be using the application to post Autodesk Civil 3D tutorials on a website.

Thanks again for all of your help!!

    Hi,spitflies
Do you mean a screen capture software, if so, I recommend Webcam Capture Studio to you. I am very familiar with this software. Because I have been used it for capturing screen and record videos. This software has no ads, no trojans and no toolbars. I use it like a charm.
You can download it from its sites:
