As the title says, I have been told the design of my site is pretty admirable, but yet people won't register. Am I marketing my site wrong?

A link to your site would definitely help,do you agree?

How can we know if something is wrong if we didn't even saw the site in the first place.

How much traffic is your site currently receiving?

Getting new members to register for a forum when it is inactive is very difficult. It's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy - no members equals no activity which makes attracting new members very difficult.

How about putting a post (or banner) at the top of your home page inviting people to register and help create this awesome new community?

You may want to launch a link building campaign yaho only showed 11 in links. If you want to get targetted traffic you may want to dive into your niche, visit every tech blog and forum and begin building releationships and asking for link exchanges.

    That's a good start.

I would also make a post about it "Sign up here for these reasons:....."

And obviously keep working on improving traffic to your site.

The forum is empty. You should hire people to post :)
To make it look active, but you should also try and drive more traffic before even adding a blog.

    Good Luck :D

I agree that you should take steps to make your forum busier with posts :)

However, I don't agree when you say you should drive more traffic before adding a blog. You should actually drive more traffic before you add a forum.

Adding a blog will help with you getting traffic from the search engines.

Yes you should hire people, so that you could have active members so that visitors wouldn't think that the site is boring... do you know where you can hire people? I can help you with that.

I think your content is not so good. You must make contents that people would be attracted to it. People love your design but your luck of convincing contents on site. That is why no one register on your website.

Looks good, you could always hire people to post in your forum. This will help it build up fast. Another idea is have a contest for the forum. Say 10 posts enters you in the contest to win a new AMD processor.

Go to this site for more tips on how to get traffic to your forum:

Give a reason for people to stay on...organize contest, come up with a point system that can be exchanged for goodies, get a few active tech savvy members to hang around. All these will certainly make a difference.

Alright, thank you all. Couchsurfer06, how much would hiring people to post cost? And rlrlphs, what is wrong with my content? I write it, it's unique. The grammar is at least 90% correct. Paradigmad and Lycos, thank you for the idea of a contest! Of course it might take a while for me to be able to purchase a processor someone would want to win, because I'm a high school student with no job... ugh, I'll just have to design a couple of websites I guess. Thank you!

I only launched one forum (so far, and probably I won't launch another one), but I first hired 12 guys here at DigitalPoint to write a lot of posts, using 3 different usernames each, if I remember correctly ...

This way the forum was "up and running" when I opened it to public and it took off nicely.

Making users register is not easy. Your site needs to provide some real value to users. Or you can reduce the amount of work needed to register new accounts. The minimum information is only username and password. No Email, no birthday, etc.

You can give some incentives or freebies to people to sign up on your forum. Say for example, you can give a coupon voucher for designing website to someone who sign up for the forum (by doing this, you don't have to come up with money yourself.
