I am having problems with my site being viewed differently in IE and firefox to how i am viewing it in Dreamweaver. Here's how i see my site in Dreamweaver, compact with no spacing between the images or tables. And here it is in IE with extra spacing around the tables and for some reason in Firefox the outline of tables are visible What coding is need for my site to have a set width, compact like how i view it in dreamweaver? Well, you really should not use tables for a layout, but if you must, then try specifying cellpadding=4 cellspacing=0 border-collapse=collapsed in the table tag.

border="1" This is why you have visible table borders set this to border="0" to remove that problem for a start *EDIT* width="100%" This is why you think they look wrong. In dreamweaver they look correct because the pane is thin, but if dreamweaver was wider they would also look wrong in that. You need to set all your tables to a specific width such as 900 (acceptable value for most peoples resolutions) Then go through and re-align all your items. With programming how you are with tables, you should use specific widths to ensure it stays correctly aligned.
Also, this: style="border-collapse: collapse; collapsed border-width: 0" should be this: style="border-collapse: collapse; border-width: 0"
Done, i had that originally but changed it in error. How do i change the overall width.. to 900 (pixels i assume) to get rid of the extra spaces around tables. Thanks p.s im not sure its the width i must be missing something which is causign the tables to have spacing or padding but cant see it in the code
Sorry I should have said, change your tables from width="100%" to width="900" (no px is needed) You will also have to change the widths of each <td> such as where you have 3 next to each other, so you have said 33% 34% 33% change these values to 300 300 300 (total 900px)
I used to use dreamweaver, but now I just use a text editor. Start by taking your code and run it through http://validator.w3.org. This will give you a list of errors you can work on based on your doc type. Once it validates, your site should render very close to the same in all browsers. As far as using tables in your design, there is nothing wrong in doing so. Once you get better at coding, you start looking at replacing your table design with div tags.
use css to style your page and font and don't use paragraph for one line text only inside the td cell and font tags too..because different browser render paragraph and font tags in different way..that is one of the reason to not showing same in all browser.
