I just wondering why Internet Marketers opted for Wordpress instead of Blogger?

Is there any particular reason? Please advise as my next idea is to setup blog too. :)

Wish to find out more before I buy the domain and hosting. Thanks

Wordpress is much more known in the modification world (themes, plugins, widget). Bloggers probably best if your just starting out a project.

If you're going to install Wordpress yourself and run it on your own domain, definitely suggest Wordpress 100%. However if you're talking about free Blogger over free Wordpress, have to go with Blogger on this one. It's just backed by all of Google's tools, including AdSense and Gmail, and the blogs are so easy to manage. Plus I feel like Blogspot blogs get indexed more than wordpress.

I dont care for blogger, most blogger blogs don't look to professional... if I didn't have my own domain I would use blogger though because wordpress won't let you have ads unless your hosting it..

Wordpress can be hosted on a server.
Wordpress can be customized 100% as you wish.
Wordpress can be installed on any domain extremely easily through Fantastico Deluxe, which is with every hostgator account (..the most popular hosting company)

    ;)

Since I stuck with a free domain I chose blogger for my blogs. I am thinking of setting one up with wordpress since there is a ton of plugins.

Just sounds like another fan boy attack at Blogger users referring to them as "Newbies"! You forget that people CHOOSE to use Blogger. They have faith in Google's platform and don't really care for plugins, themes and what not. Instead they simply roll out content and SEO, which is what brings in traffic and sales.

wp is best for seo - for ex. in blogger there is no way we can have unique meta elements [although less important]

I've used both and I really like wordpress better. The customization is the clincher. And I also think blogger blogs tend to look amatuerish.

WordPress is more for the professional blogger then most blogger programs out there. WordPress comes with hundreds of templates to utilize, that are easily customized by just overwriting the pictures with new ones, or changing the color codes in the CSS template. There are also thousands of plugins to use to customize your blog for whatever your purpose is. From adding in video, to polls, to automatic signatures, its as simple as downloading, adding, and hitting an activate button. What I like about WordPress too, is if something is incompatible, it doesn’t just load it. It shuts off the plug-in and lets you know that it cant be loaded.

it all depends on what features interest you most. WP is great since it has a lot of plugins and better for seo, etc.

I think one of the core reasons was the framework of WordPress. Why do so many people choose VBulletin over IPB? Simply because for most it's incredibly easier to create mods for. Just comparing the mod communities of VBulletin and IPB shows a lot. The same goes for WordPress and Blogger, and I can personally vouch that WordPress has a very nice framework that's incredibly easy to use for making simple modifications.

Wordpress has more plug-ins than Blogger. Plus, think Wordpress is more SEO friendly.

I have both WP and Blogger based blogs, I think it really depends on how you promote your blog and what type of content you put in those blogs.

WordPress is the PROFESSIONAL BLOGGERS CHOICE!!! If you want control and total SEO then forget about any FREE RIDES and take control with your own hosted website. If that is too much for you then this business is not for you. Get a clue and get hosting and get wordpress and get serious about making a dollar on the internet or go back to work 9 to 5.
