I was thinking of submitting my site to a bunch of new social bookmarking sites, but they all have a PR of 0. Will these backlinks even help my site at all?
They will help, if you can find them then it means they have links coming in to them from somewhere. PR is a lagging indicator, and a horrible one at that.
There is no harm in getting a backlink from them...after all, if not for anything, it will at least impart your site a good visibility and traffic too. And who knows...in the next PR update, the site may get an up gradation in its PR profile, which would work in your favor immediately! Regards, RightMan
I have links to PR 0 sites that are relevant to my own. They may never be of value to me but cost nothing. I was PR 0 too and had to start somewhere. I linked to a friend of my brothers today that never will profit me other than helping another person. He holds martial arts courses in my small city and never will be national. It only cost a little space on my links page and may get him some business. You never know when a small guy will become a big guy and profit you for your help.
When you say "help" what do you mean? - Are you asking if they will help build PR? - Are you asking if they will help get visitors to your website? - Are you asking if it will help your website to rank in the search engines?
unless the sites are banned, it will help. PR '0' doesn't actually mean zero. the scale just uses 0 - 10 as a convenience. It's probably PR 0.0000015167 or something.
Hello, Yeah! It will help, If your website bookmark page indexed by the search engine. If the bookmark page indexed the link will help you to boost up your website ranking and increase your backlinks. In this case PR is not matter at all. Thanks
Another point worth making is the toolbar reflecting PR is not always accurate (they typically only update it once per quarter) so if its showing a PR 0 it may not really be a PR 0 site, it may just be that it has not yet updated.
I don't think social networking sites help your site SERP. This would only help you in terms of traffic because of the link on social networking has redirection.
It certainly won't hurt. And remember that PR is just a Google thing. Other search engines don't measure PR, but they do count links.
More back links = more popularity in search results, it does'nt matter either its PR0 or something else.
Any link will help, but the higher the PR ranking the better it will help you. Just think of it as two different people building your house. Person A has a lot of experience (High PR Page) and person B has very little (Low PR Page). Who do you think is going to build you a better house? Of course person A will and more people are going to come to your house because it looks nice.
Look for QUALITY and TRAFFIC over PR. An up and coming site will likely not have much in the way of Page Rank, though if it's the "next big thing" and you are already on the bandwagon then sit back and enjoy the music Either way though, it SHOULD be about traffic in the end... and the best way to get traffic is to have something worthy of being read, so build your content first and foremost!
