you've really bought into all of that nonsense haven't you? this is not the "working man" vs. the "welfare/poor people" like they want you to think it is. no. it's the super rich vs. everyone else. unless you're a millionaire you are actively rooting against your own self interest.

look at payday loans. look at 30% interest on credit cards. look at obscene health insurance profits while they simultaneously do everything they can not to cover folks when they need coverage (they make even more profit by denying coverage.)

what do these things all have in common? it's the super rich class sucking the money out of everyone elses pockets (including the middle class and the small business man) ...

over the last 30 years of Reaganomics they say our economy has grown. but the average person is actually making less money (after adjusted for inflation) ... think about that. c'mon now. really think about it.

regardless, the country has to leave this kind of crazy thinking behind. socialized health care is a good idea. it works for countries all over the world. it will work for America.

it just doesn't make sense to have a profit incentive to not cover people's health. it's just a flawed idea at a basic level.

think of all of the preventative care that is missed out on because people don't want to deal with our crazy system or can't afford health insurance? many get seriously ill because of this. they eventually get care and we all pay for it anyway...

it just makes me angry that anyone is still so deluded as to still be carrying the water for the health insurance companies on this issue. this is a war against the American people. you are either with us or you are against us as my friend George W. used to say.

Well said. That is actually an Obamaism. When Bush said it, he was referring to other nations, not US citizens.

Zibblu, as always you have phrased things exactly how I would. We need to leave this crazy or as the president likes to say, "Stale" thinking behind us. Smaller government is not a good thing, it is a bad thing. Anyone who has watched Sicko knows the US health care system sucks compared to the socialized systems of the world, falling behind places like Costa Rica and Cuba. It seems conservatives have figured out there is something wrong with our system, they just haven't figured out the answer is socialized care. Thankfully, they and the rich are a shrinking lot in our country. I feel confident that Obama can undo the damage 30 years of Reaganomics have done to this country.

I understand how convenient it would be if you were allowed to put your fingers in your ears and run away when asked difficult questions, But it's an important point.

Do you accept that previous drafts were saying exactly the same thing as the ratified draft only worded differently? Or are you going to claim that between drafts they entirely changed what the amendment was referring to?

This isn't a right to bear arms thread, I don't see why the argument is even in here. The thread is titled: "Obama's Health Care Fascism" not "The right to bear arms who's right who's wrong!!!"

Do you have split personality disorder or something? I'm sure I've seen you in threads a while back ripping into Obama and his policies. Is this your way of being satirical? 'cause it's too subtle.

I have some sort of mental disorder, but I'm not sure what it is called.

Find my thread ripping Obama, and link it. Never would I belittle our savior. I've got a crush on Obama.

P.S. IMO, satire can never be too subtle.

I don't think so. I think the problem with our country revolves around the government trying to tell people how to live thier lives, how to raise their kids. I think it comes from the government having too lax of border security. I think it comes from the government giving handouts to their friends. In essence, I think it is the governments fault. I don't want a bigger government to allow them to f up any more. As governments grow they eventually fail. We started out as a small government nation, and were very prosperous. It wasn't until our government tried stepping into things it has zero business being in that things started going bad. Welfare comes to mind.

I'm sorry, but, I can not accept government as the solution to all our problems, when, in fact, the government is so corrupt it is the very essence of our problems.

Civil rights comes to my mind.

"things started going bad." Like what? This whole idea that things were "great in the old days before regulations" is such utter nonsense.

    This -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_Shirtwaist_Factory_fire

is the the kind of thing that happens without government regulations.

Is government perfect? No. But at least it's answerable to people (in a Democracy.) who are businesses (like health insurance companies) answerable to? This fantasy that the free market will magically give everyone the best deals on everything is nonsense. It just doesn't work like that. Without some form of regulations then the greed for profit over everything else causes far more harm than good.

The real enemy is big business. They are destroying the earth. In a just democracy the government isn't some monolithic danger to society. The government is us. It's up to us to have a government that is responsive and not overly powerful. They should provide national health care. What they shouldn't do is micromanage our personal choices. There is a place for government, but we must make sure it doesn't encroach upon too much of our own personal choices as well. I think there's a happy medium in there somewhere.

Also: Read The Deep Economy. That's to everyone. Great book. People have to start realizing that the current economic framework of the world is unsustainable.

The US isn't even a democracy Zibblu, so that doesn't work.
