Gotta Get A Wisdom Tooth Taken Out. What's Your Story.

    Hey guys,

Well on Thursday of this week I gotta take one wisdom tooth out. I only have one that came in and it's growing in angled.

The tooth was giving some pain a while back, but its been good now. I gotta take it out because it might crowd other teeth.

It's the lower right and it hasn't broken through yet its just, under the gum (or at least of the peaks is).

Anyway. I'd like to hear your stories.

Please keep the horror details to a minimum.

    :D I'll pass then...

My dentist threatened with this possibility so I took drastic measures. Seen one of my best friend's face after the op and it wasn't a nice sight to behold so with that firmly engraved in my memory I made sure to avoid that situation. But I guess if it's down to it growing the wrong way there's not much you can do.

It sure pains a lot. thought of taking it out, but left it as it is and in the process lost some weight ;)

i took mine out by tying a thread to the tooth, and to the door handle. then someone slams the door while i'm not looking.

I'm going to be a dentist...And i had 3 wisdom teeth out already, so i can have opinion from both sides and...
Go ahead! ;) Lower teeth don't give any pain during the procedure, local anesthetics do their job pretty well.
After the surgery just take the drugs and put lots of ice the first 24 hours.
The worst part for me with the 3 surgeries i had, was definately the stitchs! I was unable to clean that area well cause it hurted a bit when i touch with the toothbrush...
    Besides that all good! ;)

When you are having your wisdom tooth extracted, go to a place that only specializes in wisdom tooth extractions. I had all 4 extracted at the same time in less than an hour. Good luck, no horror stories from me.

Getting your wisdom teeth pulled isn't too bad as long as you don't get a dry socket. Mine went well except one of my lower teeth had to be cut out a bit, so it swelled more than the others. Otherwise, it wasn't a big deal.

If the crowds the other teeth was the only problem with the wisdom teeth i would have all mine.

You can have worst problems having it, then removing it...The angled teeth for sure will be hard to clean, it will get full of bacteria...Eventually cavities, and pain...
It can also make the teeth next to it with cavities, so you can end up having to take out more than one...
Also crowding makes you more vulnerable to dental caries etc etc etc...

Take that wisdom tooth out ;)

Mine was a pleasant experience, but I sure had some good drugs, and they werent really messed up, just needed to come out. Watch out for dry sockets after.

In 1976 I needed an impacted wisdom tooth removing as it kept getting infected.
I'm scared of hospitals and being put to sleep so opted for my own dentist with a local anesthetic.
The extraction itself wasn't that bad, but the following day I couldn't open my mouth. I thought he'd sewn my jaws together. Fortunately this improved as the swelling went down.
It won't be fun, but you'll survive.
    Good luck.

Are you serious or joking?

My mom has horror stories about hers (her skin turned purple around her jaws and she couldn't eat for a week) and my dad never had his taken out. Unless mine cause trouble/start hurting I'm keeping them in :D ...

    Haha,

It's not scaring me. I have no infection and the gum over the tooth, is as my dentist stated, a "healthy pink".

So... ye its T minus 3 days. So . . . yea, I know I won't feel a thing (thank-you drugs), but I'm pretty nervous about after the procedure cause that's gonna be a pain (no pun intended).
