My Site is Not Converting

Hello all,

I run this site: http://www.episodeshare.com/

I have managed to get a bit of traffic (39 uniques yesterday, 246 uniques day before, 121 uniques day before that and so on). Average 50 uniques over last 14 days.

However, I have only had about 5 legitmate registerations from users. I notice that they arive at my site and leave very quickly.

40% leave with in 5 seconds.
20% stay for 5-30 seconds.

How can I get my site to get people to register and stay on there for longer?

It's a bit overwhelming and not very user friendly. Try to make it simpler, sometimes less is more. And post some of your own reviews on their to get it rolling.

 

the blog format isnt the best format to go with as you are taking up to much space for each new episode. But think of it like this, people go to your website to watch t.v. shows. The harder it is to access the t.v shows the faster they will leave.Because people in todays world don't want to read or dig for something they want.They expect it to be right there in front of them for them to use. So provide them for what they are looking for and to do this show the most popular Pages/videos on your site on one side of your page. Then post the recent findings on the other. There is alot more you can do with your site to make it more user friendly and you will find them out over time but for now you are doing great, keep up the good work and your site will become very succesful.

I may have worded the above paragraph incorrectly, my bad for that i was just in a rush.

 

Blog format is bad. I suggest just having a page for each series you are linking to, and on that page have every episode as a large button that sends you directly to the video. Also make sure episodes and shows are organized properly, as well as having every episode listed. If I see a site is missing episodes, I just leave because I know I can find a site that is complete. A disorganized mess with missing content will make people leave quickly, because it is too much work to try and find what you're looking for, only to realize that it isn't even there! It's very easy to sort data with a MySQL query, assuming you always follow the same syntax when entering stuff into your database.

Also get rid of the pink. It's just not going to make your average male viewer want to visit the site.

 

header and footer i think is not well balanced organized, but this is just my opinion..

 

First we need to find out what people are expecting and need to work on that target.You can add popular pages and videos in order to attract people.So keep doing your best and goodluck!

That's a good idea and I am adding comments and reviews on as many of the episodes and movies as I can. I am also out-sourcing this since there are just too many to do.

Why do you say overwhelming? For me it looks simple. When I visit digg, it looks more complicated then my site and I think that's an achievement.

My site happens to look like a blog for some reason, that is true. I need to dismiss that and get a different feel to it.

I have tried to make it easy for users by placing a large text next to each title where they can just click it and go to the other sites to watch the video. Maybe I need to make this more apparent?

 

If I have a page for each series, then it won't be organized for users to be able to comment on each episode. Currently, the site has a page for each episode and a category that similar episodes are grouped into. I think this is organised, but I do need to make it easier to find episodes. Especially, the search function, I need to fix that since it doesn't work so well.

Lol I thought that was slick. I might need a different template for this site. But now I will change the colour to something more neutral, maybe a bright blue.

I think based on these searches, people will usually arrive in deep pages of my site such as the episode page (example, http://www.episodeshare.com/category/South-Park/south-park-fatbeard---season-13---episode-7/).

This is working well, don't you agree?

 

The site is coming along really nicely since I first visited it. I think a thumbnail of each episode next to the title would help the visual appeal of the site a lot, but I know that's a lot of work.

So your statistics tell you the truth is that those visitors weren't your targeted traffic. As far as I known, sometimes visitors from organic search engine will do better, but those from social bookmaking usually bring you nogthing. Another problem might be your episodes are hard to be found.

My site, for each episode or movie, will only send you to one other site and that site will have the video right there.

If this did not happen for you, can you let me know of the video you tried to watch?

What do you mean by this? Do you mean hard to find on Google? If thats the case, you are right. I need to get better ranking which I am working on.

Its just the users I get, leave quite quickly.

The biggest problem -its not look like related to video at all. Change site name (add word video), add video preview for each post, or just some image.

Its very hard to say what looks like what on the web as there are many users with different perceptions that is why I have tried to keep my site neutral and just a simple list style with categories to find what users want.

 

Your Site keeps growing , and I love all the choices there are. Lol i've been using it for the past week and its been great. Keep it up mate!
