Does google give preference to .com

I am wanting to register a new forum, which name would be better?
domainname.cc
thedomainname.com
thedomainname.info

the "domainname.com" is not avalible but domainname.cc is


Does google give any preference to the . ending?
If the the keyword is domainname will thedomainname be just as good?

Google will not give preference according to domain extension unless the user perform a geographical search.

Keyword domains are overrated.

 

Google doesn't give any preference to any tld, .com, .net and so on, they'are equals.

 

I beg to differ on this. Key word domains are quite useful from many perspectives. First they can be easy to remember, second the SEs do put a lot of weight on key words in domain names. While my site is good, has vast quantities of content and has lots of backlinks, I think the primary reason it always shows up #1 for Google and MSN searches of "environmental chemistry (with or without quotes) is because this is its domain name (EnvironmentalChemistry.com). I've seen many other prime examples of this. I have also seen sites struggle in SERPs because they did not have the key words in their domain name.

 

I'll have to agree with KLB, domain name keywords do help with serps and certainly on remembering the name better.

but would just the keyword name be more weight with serp
or is it ok to add "the" in front of it. which would you choose?

 

I would avoid using any non-necessary characters to a domain name. It all goes back to the theories on keyword dilution and the theory that the placement of key words affect their weight. For example "keyword" in "keyword.com" would have more weight than in "thekeyword.com". Is this reality, I don't know, but I prefer to error on the safe side of such issues.

 

I havent found the .com extension to be given any additional benefit.

KLB, I think that google has significantly reduced the keyword weightage during their last update... To quote a good example, key in Good Tutorials and we can see that good-tutorials.com no longer appears in the top 10 of the search results. I noticed that this wasn't the case before the update.

I would say that the only advantage left for keyword domain is that its easy to remember

 

Keywords in domains help alot.....
