The greatest compliment I have received as a Web designer is when I logged into Google analytics today, clicked on search keywords, and saw that customers are coming to my site by searching for these terms: 1. (mydomainname).com 2. (my domain name) 3. www.(mydomainname).com 4. (major keyword) 5. (mydomainname) ...and when I see 46% new visits. And bounce rate just above 20%. To me, it means people love the site, and they're coming back. It means my brand has caught on. It means my traffic is not made up of random browsers, but someone who likes the content so much, they'll type my domain name into google to find it. I'd take that over a super-SEO-optimized site any day. - FB
That's what some webmaster want to happen to their site as they include their domain name along with their keyword as anchor text.
Interesting. I never thought about branding. I guess having people return is the biggest complement. Well done!
Content really is king - And, from a marketing POV, you get to be king by getting your brand name out there. Tips: Make your brand easy to remember and catchy Professional graphics are essential - noone will take your site seriously if it looks like it was designed by someone who doesn't take their business seriously Have a memorable logo When link building, try to get others to link to your site via positive blog reviews Be sure you have content that people NEED Look at your own site through the eyes of an outsider. Is your site WORTH bookmarking? Good luck to all!
Simple: It's a niche site (education), but a successful one. I don't want people copying my site (making similar versions) and creating unnecessary competition. But my advice in the previous post remains: Branding Graphics/logos Link building through positive blog reviews Easy-to-remember name and domain Content that people actually need/want Also note: I have 14 sites - only one has really caught on and achieved huge traffic. The others remain small, but growing. I try to brand and market them all the same way. Now I'm just hoping the others can catch up as well. Cheers, - Tim
