There are so many tools to help you get more followers on twitter. Tools like: HummingBird Twollow TweepMe Twitter Traffic Machine I am just wondering, if you start using them, and you'll easily grow your followers to hundreds each day. Can it get you banned from twitter, or what will get you banned from twitter (I guess posting spam and illegal content will)? - jens -
If you go crazy with following people in a short amount of time then you're going to be flagged as spam which can lead to account suspension. It's all set out for you in the Twitter rules located here.
I have read the rules, but I just don't get it What's a large amount of users in a short amount of time? I know people that are following hundreds of new people every single day, to me, this is a large amount in a short amount of time - jens -
As far as followers, as long as you aren't following more than 5% - 10% of the amount of people following you. You won't get banned. I try to have more followers than I am following.
how about if you follow those 50 who just followed you, would that get their attention and consider you a spam as well?
That's is actually interesting. I made an account today and followed ~600 people. I got 80 followers already. I will see if I won't get banned then I keep doing it.
It is very difficult to get banned from Twitter. I know people following and being followed by hundreds of people, posting links to their sites every 5 minutes and still not banned. Since you don't post links to bad content (virus, cracks and phishing sites) you won't get banned.
posting every 5 minutes? this is totally a hardcore spam and is something i should ban if im the owner.
Actually, it depends on how many people block you. Twitter admins have a stats system displaying the most blocked users (by other users). So if you post useless updates and lot of people block you, this system notifies the Twitter admins, they inspect your account and they ban it. In other words, if the content you post is useful and not many people block you, then you won't get banned, no matter how often you post.
Theory: Spam: You may not use the Twitter service for the purpose of spamming anyone. What constitutes “spamming†will evolve as we respond to new tricks and tactics by spammers. Some of the factors that we take into account when determining what conduct is considered to be spamming are: * If you have followed a large amount of users in a short amount of time; * If you have followed and unfollowed people in a short time period, particularly by automated means (aggressive follower churn); * If you repeatedly follow and unfollow people, whether to build followers or to garner more attention for your profile; * If you have a small number of followers compared to the amount of people you are following; * If your updates consist mainly of links, and not personal updates; * If a large number of people are blocking you; * The number of spam complaints that have been filed against you; * If you post duplicate content over multiple accounts or multiple duplicate updates on one account * If you post multiple unrelated updates to a topic using # * If you repost other user’s content without attribution. Practice: Despite what people are saying mass following is not a big issue at all. You can create a fresh account and follow up to 900/1000 in a row, than you'll be blocked untill the next day or so. Problem is going beyond the 2000 followers limit. At that point you have to mass unfollow and start again. Here is when you have the bigger chance to be banned, although in a random fashion. (Obviously there are ways to pass the 2000 limit) My two cents: You will be eventually caught but like every black hat thing, it may or not may be worthwhile.
I follow 500 a day, no problem. Sometimes I follow 1000 a day. I use Hummingbird. Just don't go over 1000. If you wanna play it safe, keep it to 500 a day.
Like anything that is useful on the Internet, there will always be an enormous crowd of people wanting to use it the wrong way. And then there's the response to that.
