Hard decision: to spam or not to spam

I read a small report that claims can get you 1000$ in just three days...just that it is a lil black-hat. It involves sending emails...to a lot of persons. These emails aren't from a mailing list that the users subscribed to...they are more like automatically generated emails (using a small software that i made and that anyone with really basic programming knowledge can make). Some emails aren't valid...but some are. The method involves promoting one of my products by sending emails to this list of emails...but is spam. I know it is not illegal...but still...it does not comply with my principles...what would you do?

What if the report lies? But anyway since you have invented the generator on your own and not paid a penny you can try this stuff. You know, you never become a guru without having experience in all areas of internet business.

well...a do have a website that I plan to have for a long time and it goes rather well...can't actually complain about it...mostly since I don't put a lot of time into it...been really busy with my University studies...but also some quick cash won't hurt...

Maybe the report lies...it is not the first and it won't be the last. I won't be surprised if it won't work as described...but still...it is a rather unethical way...

Do not email spam! You'll get your domain easily banned from registrant and your host + you can get sued for a lot of money!

As far as my understanding, based on conversions rate, the only way to make money out of it is if you send several millions emails per day than you'll probably get a few hundred sales, but you need to know very well what you are doing and you'll need a lot of bandwith and servers capability. Unless you are a "Russian" hacker (I say Russian cause they are the "best" at it) and you don't mind all the bad press on your product than go ahead. But you are basically killing your product/brand "reputation" before you start, plus the risk of getting the domain and site banned really fast.

In conclusion do not do it!

If you feel uncomfortable about it then there is probably a good reason for that. If I had nothing else going on and this was looking like my best option at making money then I would do it.

I never read spam and I'm sure you don't either. Why bother spamming hundreds of people and getting your business a bad name?

If it works for you, why not try it. I can bet you that report was just rubbish. I read it too. I wonder how you can fall in for that crap!

Maybe the report is fake...actually probably...but since I did not pay anything for it I did not lose anything
About ruining my reputation...I won;t be using my main domain name...but one that I have no use for...about getting sued...don't know exactly how...I am not doing something illegal...and I won't send millions of emails...actually I was just thinking of sending about 5000 for a test...but that is still a huge number of emails and it is still spam...and like I said...I feel bad about doing this. I don't like spam (actually I ignore it and thanks to gMail...it filters 99% of the spam). But for some the product that I am promoting can help.

EDIT: Also...it is sort of like the flayers you get on the street...

Spammers are given the least respect and the product promoted by them are given the least considerations. Never spam and let people live happily. Spammers do sometimes achieve success in the short run but they can't sustain the business :)

Certainly, if I was going to do it I wouldn't be posting in here. However, any money you make quickly is likely to leave you just as quickly. Just beware!

A lot of bloggers are extremely anti-spam, and will post openly damning the companies that bother them and warning others off said companies. I've seen a rise in these "name and shames" with personal bloggers, and sometimes, these people have huge blogs and if they mention a product it'll come up high on Google rankings - and they'll be bitching about it. So not worth it.

Like what they said, Do not spam. But if your niche is short term I suppose it would be okay.

ok! Thank you for your replays. I made up my mind. No Spam! It is much better to just build reptation and on the long term it will give me more money. Thanks again.

You won't make $1000. Any report that says "make $1000 in just 3 days" or similar is a scam because no two things are the same. You might make more or you might make less.

But please don't spam. I get enough as it is. Just put your effort into something worthwhile.

spam wont last long, every time you blast an issue out you will get lesser response and get more complaint to your site... you wont want your site to get ban do you?
