XML sitemap? If so: Have you submitted it to Google and how long time have you waited?

Being a self-proclaimed newbie, I'd guess that it's one folder up from root...

When you log into your FTP look for a folder called public_html, htdocs, or www

It could be named anything, bu tthose are most common and would explain why it's not web-root

So... If it is PHP... It is most likely actually a HTML sitemap?
(i.e. the output is - the code that generates it is PHP)

    ritchie111...
Have you tried searching for "Google sitemaps"
    Takes you to: http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps
(notice though that above is about XML sitemaps for Google / search engines)

You need to read the guidelines about google sitemaps. A site map is what you have made. A google sitemap is something totally different.

Yes, you need to change the headers from the default (text/html) to xml.

Its not hard - you open up notepad and write a list of your web pages. Then upload it to your website.

If you just want to list the urls save the file as .txt and not xml.

    Wrong http://www.crystalglassfantastic.co.uk/sitemap.txt.xml
    Right http://www.crystalglassfantastic.co.uk/sitemap.txt

(xml files need to follow a standard)

To make your job easier why not use an online tool.

Heres a simple one that does the basics and has the steps listed.
