High Paying Keyword

    I was wondering how Google decides which ads to place on your Adsense website? I know Adsense only displays relevant ads, but does it depend on how optimized your website is for the releveant keywords?

    For example, if the highest bid for the keyword "Loans" yielded $20 per click. Are the chances of that ad being displayed on a well optimized #1 website greater than a small website buried deep within the Google's SERP?

    I also have another question: If the highest bid yielded $20 per click, are the chances other ads will yield similar prices? For example, if adsense displays three ads on my website releveant to "Loan". One of them yields $20 per click - will the other two ads yield say $15 - $20? Or is it possible for them to only pay just a dollar per click?

    Google doesn't give out the exact details of how ads are selected, but many of the inputs into their algorithm are exposed in the AdSense patent.

    As for successive bids on a "high-paying" keyword... what you're talking about is the bid gap, the difference between successive bids. It's not unusual for the bid gap to be quite large. So it wouldn't be unusual for the $20 bid to be followed by a $5 bid, which is then followed by a $1 bid. The drop-off can be quite dramatic. And don't forget that the ad in the first spot will only pay a bit more than what the second place bidder is willing to pay, which means that with large bid gaps the actual payout you'll see (which is a percentage of what the advertiser pays, adjusted downwards sometimes via smart pricing) is nowhere near what the "top bid" is.

    Do keywords matters more then building an original made for people website, if you care a lot an build a content with keywords to get high paying ads you are doing something like building a MFA site .....

    Well I don't know why they would try to bury high paying ads. I mean they make more money from clicks on those aswell, right?

    You still have to optimize the pages for keywords even in a very tight nieche. Eventually, you will want to rank for good traffic keywords.

    Eric, I was wondering, by this logic, would an ad that only shows one advertisement (such as the 120x120 ad) always display the highest paying bid?
