1.Make a site to promote your service 2.Put some free things 3.Put it on forums too so they know who you are(build reputations) 4.Advertise in DP or you looking for something else?

You should go to freelance site such as guru.com to bid for the design job. The tips for getting the job is always bid with minimum price.
Get a website Advertise on craigslist Offer to build few sites at very low price (to start portfolio) Raise the price once you have some experience and something to show for it Market it online 24/7
1) Make sure your own website is top-notch and provides a very friendly layout. 2) Start to develop a portfolio. You may need to work for cheap (or free) in some instances to develop a client base. 3) Advertise anywhere and everywhere you can and leave your mark! Good luck.

Make sure you put up a portfolio of work you've already done, as well as references that your potential clients can call and discuss your services with. There's lots of web designers out there...carve out your niche and market your services for that niche.

You asked about cheap domain names and hosting. Let me say this; if it's your business, you'd better not go cheap. Never take chances with anything cheap if it's your core business. If you're looking to throw up squeeze pages and never going back, that's something else. If you can't afford the full $9 a year for a real business domain and $100 a year for hosting, don't even start. Now, after that, you have to create your web page first. Make it look relatively nice, but you don't have to overdo it. People want to know that you designed your own page, and that you have an idea on how to lay it out. Beyond that, if you have some examples you can share, then go that route. I don't have any examples on my site of other people's websites, but some other folks do. After that, just advertise and see what you can get. Craigslist is pretty good, some forums also, but don't forget your local market. Good luck.

Yo I got a blogger blog that I customized myself, check it out -- ebizexperiment.com Its like 70k size and uploads pretty fast, I only paid 10$ for 1 year domain + hosting. ++ That im a newb and its relatively easy to change stuff in blogspot. With the 90$ I saved I think I could buy some traffic or other things to get me started. Do you really think that my blog could load a bit faster than it already is now?? tell me
