http://www.seotops.com/google-mayinner-update-sees-domain-strength-get-devalued_1053/ Just an observation, lets discuss!
I think this is both a bad and good update for the seo industry. For one, it makes every keyword a more level playing field. You may not have to struggle against competitors who have good internal rankings just due to their domain strength. On the other hand, it may make link building a little more difficult. I had been building links with the assumption that the homepage PR mattered more than the linking page's PR. Now I may have to switch back to focusing on page PR.
Its going to clean the results up alot more, as it kicks in with the "Brand update", smaller non authoritive sites that have been getting power from their homepage are going to feel it most I believe.
It's been known for years that you shouldn't build links only for your index but spread the building efforts 50% to the home page 50% to the rest of the site. I don't know know if this “Mayinner†Update is true, but if it is it will definitely clean out the index and it makes a lot of sense on a user point of view: If site A has thousands of incoming links only to the index, suddenly decides to write crappy an article on "How to Make Money Online" that nobody likes or talks about, why should that article rank better than a similar article on site B, that has a few hundred incoming links to their index but their "How to make Money Online" article was so good it got syndicated and linked by many.
Yes thats the whole point, "Mayinner" is something I have noticed lately (changes in positions of inner pages for smaller sites and brand authoritive sites) thats why I blogged about it Its true them sites should not have been ranking, but they have been because of the power of the domain itself and thats what seem to have changed, except for the brand authoritive sites like Amazon etc It will indeed clean up the search results
I've noticed some google dancing lately and a lot of different results in matter of minutes from different datacenters even if we search from the same URL, using the same search string. I guess that together with the new google features there probably be some big "algo" update, there isn't much to do but wait and hope that all our previous efforts will count. Something is really weird: I just checked our rankings for "SEO Web Badges" and if you search for it in capital letters we come up first if you search it in small letters "seo web badges" we are no where. WTF! Never seen such a difference before based on Capital and small letters.
Depends what techniques you have been practicing really If you promote all your content well, having perfect onsite optimisation and a natural flow of authoritive links then it shouldnt hurt you too much
where did you get this word "mayinner" ? the only instances I can see of this word are things you've written about it? http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=google+mayinner&pws=0&hl=en&num=10
I dont mean the phenomena (or update if there was one) but the name for it, "mayinner" did you invent that?
One observation for sure is that, this will definitely give more chance for smaller sites to gain ranking on the basis on "quality". It depends on how one would interpret and look at it.
