Because no country protects the rights of children not to be abused by their parents.
Religious teaching should be illegal under the age of 12.

I think it boils down to this - some people prefer believing what is written in one old book than understanding what is written in a bunch of complicated ones.

As if one had anything to do with the other. Of course you know all this, but some people need to hear things more than once before they stick.

Not criminalizing religion but PROTECTING CHILDREN MINDS from the stupid beliefs of their parents, until their brain are mature enough not to believe in anything they're told.
I'm sure you do understand the difference between criminalizing religion and protecting children's rights, especially very young ones who didn't have time to develop critical thinking mechanisms and do believe in anything their parents or anybody tells them.

What you're doing is the same as someone saying "I love it! Criminalize sex.." when I'd be talking about protecting children from sex abuse by their parents or relatives.
Religion teaching is like sex abuse because of concepts such as hell, the unecessary fear is psychological abuse, even if grown up will deny that, children are afraid, that's why you don't make them watch horror movies, because they'll do nightmares with vivid fear.

Sure you are. You brought up horror movies, which some would argue is a damaging psyche impact on the brain, yet we have no law against it. Same with consumption of alcohol inside the home(within reason). Hows this. Lets put that law in place and prosecute every school room teacher who mentions atheism. You OK with that?

BTW, I must have missed the section of our constitution that dealt with the freedom to practice sex, or the section that put freedom of religion as a right only possessed by the "mature". Like I said, nothing we cant amend.

Surely one day will come when atheists will start to believe in religion. But I’m sorry to say, then there’ll be no way out :(.
