Sure. I've used Squidoo before. The biggest factor I've found is for SEO purposes: you get to control the links, their anchor text and their position on the page. That's the biggest benefit in my mind. As for traffic, I've found your lenses need to be in a popular topic to be successful. I read about a guy who made a list of healthy smoothie recipes that got him great traffic and of course, a great link.
Squidoo has a lot of value with google so it can be easy to get the squidoo page to rank well with the right keywords and get it point to your site giving it more traffic and a higher page rank
Unfortunately I have never gotten any traffic from Squidoo....there are way too many lenses out there. I use it mostly for the SEO benefits!
The problem many people have with squidoo lenses is that they think it is just making a lens and leaving it. That won't produce a very beneficial lens. You have to treat it just like a separate website. Do some link building and periodically add more content to it. Then that lens will produce even stronger SEO benefits and it will send a steady stream of traffic. I have used squidoo for seo quite a lot lately and I definitely recommend it.
If your content is great and you get your lense some exposure you will do much better. The more popular your lense the more benefit you will get from the links back to your site.
Squidoo allows you to post number of blogs( called lens in squidoo). You can use them to link to your website. Then you can promote those squidoo lens. This will give your website a better traffic and ranking. Also you are provide with squidoo tutorials(how to use squidoo) on the site. It will give you good information.
I still use Squidoo today eventhough it has less impact on google than before. When making a link on your lenses, they are do follow. But when commenting on other people's lenses and put your link in the comments, they are no-follow.
I am using the squidoo and hubpages.com.. Its very good site to derive the results for target keyword. You can write the product review to these sites. Its got good rank in google and yahoo.
people use squidoo lenses for various reasons. some just keep building lenses one after another and make money form the lenses utilising squidoo revenue share or other affiliate programs. some use it as a landing page to sale product and some use it for backlinks. if you need traffic form the lens, then you need to setup a properly optimized lens with targeted keyword, add the proper tags while building the lens, and then promote the lens within squidoo network as well as outside the network. traditional off-site promotion still applies if you are looking to get traffic as you canot get traffic if your lens is not ranked high
It will help your site if you know how to use it, you need to read the tutorial on squidoo if you have not use it before.
I agree with this you need to treat your squidoo lens or any other web 2.0 like a separate website to ensure the quality of those links.
you could rank an article higher in SERP using squidoo rather than posting on your blog. That is the major advantage.
