I made a site 10 days ago or so whose topic or keyword is relatively competitive. I put some links from my blogs and sites, I would say 10 or so, with anchor text. It was rather quickly indexed and ranked #38 or so on Google. I was thinking "Hmmm it is a good start!" and I was thinking about starting to work on it more. But, today, when I checked the rank, it was gone...I used a tool and made sure it was not under #500. OK, I am not upset that much because it's only 10 days since I made it and I haven't worked on it a lot.I just put some links from my sites so that it's indexed... But, my question here is, is it possible the site was sandboxed this quickly? I mean, isn't it too soon for this kind of stuff to happen? Or is it normal? I'm wondering if I should even change the domain and start up again using a different server or something....Or just "Google dance" or something? Thanks
Check your webmaster tools dashboard with Google and see if its still indexed. Could just be moving around in the serp's
Hi, thanks for your reply! site:mydomain.com shows my site. Is it not good enough? (Is webmaster tools necessary? just because I haven't added this site to my account yet.)
In my opinion, yes it is necessary especially if you're monitoring your site's status and ranking on S.Es... It will help you a lot if you're using tools that checks your SE status rankings...
Yes, I understand it's better if I use Webmaster tools. My question here is is it necessary to use it to decide if my site is indexed or not. In other words, is it possble even site:mydomain.com shows my site, in reality my site is not indexed according to Webmaster tools? Thanks!
As far as the Sandbox issue goes, I have recently put up a few sites and my limited experience here is that it varies a lot. The site seems to move up and down some, and it does not always seem like there is a good reason; just do good SEO, build a good site, and get lots of links (preferably from a keyword related page or site). It does seem like, if you get a link on a fairly high PR page (that gets indexed often) then you will see a little more consistency in your early rankings. Of course a lot depends on how competitive your keywords are.
it isnt sandboxed, the initial results were the google honeymoon, and now its over. you said your keywords were relatively competitive? in that case, below 500 somewhere is just where you rank for them naturally, with a 10 day old site. now the work starts, forget about this sandbox nonsense, it doesnt exist.
