You use a plug in to pull RSS feeds. Some are free some are not.

You can't use plug ins on wordpress.com. Best you can do is use the RSS feed widget in the sidebar.
What's the point ? You can't put adsense on it, or anything else.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you that auto blogs suck, but ...people create them mostly using self hosted Word Press (Wordpress.org), and either free, or paid auto blog plug ins like wp-o-matic.

    Hi there w3bmaster:

Here is what you need to make automated blogs:
    1) You need a source of data
    2) You need a software to post your data

When it comes to free software you can use WP-o-MATIC (Download it at Wordpress page) - you set it up - set up CRON at your server - setup RSS feeds and it will turn RSS messages into posts on your blog - it gives you a lot of options.

One of the best commercial plugins you can get is Caffeinated Content and an additional tool for it that I created - Caffeinated World - if you are at all interested in commercial - google Caffeinated World but still... WP-o-Matic is a great solution if you but in some time into setting it up.

There is a script for wordpress called "Carp" - its free and converts RSS2 feeds so they can be displayed on wordpress pages. There are a couple of commercial grade scripts by the same guy who made carp that can handle ATOM and other types of feeds.

Do a google search for geckotribe, that is were you will be able to find the scripts at. But be warned, the support - even on the paid versions is not that great. I have posted a couple of things in the geckotribe support forum and got no help. I bought the Grouper package, needed some help, posted in their forums and never got a reply. I even sent the guy an email asking for help and he never replied. If you buy anything from geckotribe, buy at your own risk.

Of course you can, it's yours....you can do what ever you want with it.

    No. None.
If you don't have the time to write a blog, and won't spend $20 to create one..why do want a blog in the first place ? You seem not to have the top 3 things you need to be successful.

    1. Knowledge
    2. Dedication
    3. Time

You want a free hosted blog, that you don't have to write, and I assume that you are looking to make money on it...correct ?

Are you sure that you want to be in business ? Any business ?

Not to try to answer for the other guy, but I use scripts to keep my blog updated with certain information - such as recent forum post. I have a forum that is on the same topic as my blog. In the side bar of my blog, I have a feed that displays the titles of the ten most recent forum post. And on a page, I have a feed that displays a feed from certain forum sections.

People can visit my blog, read my post, see some of the recent forum post - and all at the same time. The end result is a mixture of content from 2 different sites that I own. And I think it works out well.

When someone ask about using a script to keep their blog updated, they might be wanting to do something like what I have done.

And, if you go to yahoo news, they have feeds from different news sites. This makes it a great resource. Instead of visiting 10 different sites, I just go to yahoo news and read through the feeds. I have thought about adding something like that to my site.

I understand, but he wants it all free. Free domain, Free hosting, Free script. ..and a free hosted blog that will allow the free script. For $10 and a hosting coupon, (or $20) he could have it set up by the end of the day...but I don't where he can get all that for nothing...and I hope that no one ever offers it.

You would think that the time and effort it takes trying to game the system would be better spent actually learning it and making a difference....

Yes you can do this by developing a script to post automated data into the blogs hosted in wordpress.com or blogger. I have developed a script & which is working well for wordpress.com blogs. :)

I don't know of any way to create an auto blog on blogger. You can pull RSS feeds to the sidebar, but that is all that I remember on that platform.
If you have your own hosting and domains, wouldn't it just be easier to use your own stuff for your "experiment" ?

Again, as far as I know, there are no free platforms that support auto blogging. It's a custom configuration. There would be no point in offering a free platform for people to express themselves, if all they are going to do is feed already posted information, and create a "round robin" of regurgitated content.

I can't speak for free platforms, but IMO, if you want to build a custom configuration to fit specific needs, you can pay for it your self. The services offered by blogger, and wordpress.com are pretty basic...autoblogging and other plug ins that change the function of the original intent are not allowed.
