Hi there, For some reason I have never had any of my sites get higher than PR0 For example the site in my signature www.win32developer.com ranks well in SERP's and has approx 50 pages in total, with 529 links from other sites. So, I cant understand why I am still on PR0. Can anyone shed any light as to what may be going on?
Looks like most of your links come from forums. Perhaps get some links from other development sites that are not forums.
Diversify your link profile. Get backlinks from blogs, forums, directories, social bookmarking sites and you should see a PR2/3 in next update. Breaking into PR4 would require much more effort.
Ok, ill give those suggestions a try. How often does Google generally update PR? My main project at the moment is a tourism oriented site. I have been posting a few things on various sites, using a totally different approach to my programming site. My programming site is more of a toy project but I have been surprised with the visits and support that I have been getting so far and have managed to rank better than anticipated. I am on page 1 for google with terms like 'winsock tutorial' and 'winsock tutorials'. My new tourism site is much more important to me. So, I am attempting to do it right the first time
So far (with my programming site anyway) I have been linked from pages that are PR7 & 8 (gamedev.net and ogre3d.org). The lowest site that I am linked from (that I know of) is PR3.
Well, I suggest you get links through the used of different strategies. As I have noticed, most of your links are coming from forum posts, you should also give importance to blogs, directories, social bookmarking sites, etc.. when building links. This would be your bullet on targeting higher page rank number.
build more links, Google updates its PR every 3-4months... PR0 is just a stepping stone for a site, strive more in link building and soon you'll get a better PR...
I have a website that has less backlinks than yours and it is PR4 so there must be a problem with your links... Try to find some high PR backlinks.

Start a blog, and tag your blog posts on different social bookmarking sites... you can also link to other blogs that are relevant to your business.
I've got the same problem too, i build backlink from many site and my PR still zero. I thing to get PR up is more difficult right now. But since i've got more traffic i don't care about my site Page Rank.
Well, you might have 529 links, but google is only reporting 12 using the link: site name command. Your going to need several hundred more links before the next page rank update Google only updates page rank only 3 - 4 times a year. So if you add a few hundred links, do not expect a change until google does an update.
I submitted my site (not in the sig) to about 1500 directories (about a quarter accepted) and I got page rank 3, but my SERP was really really bad (page 20 or so) now I'm doing forum and other posts and in one month I moved to page 5 on average. So, who cares about PR? It's useless
Not sure. I do need to renew soon. I have another site that I created for my employer, recently. It has only 8 pages and Google is aware of only 1 link and it is allready PR1. I will continue trying to generate quality backlinks and see how we go
It might just be that google hasn't gotten around to updating the toolbar Pr yet. Don't worry! Just keep building links and you'll be fine.
