Do you submit your websites to search engines?

I have actually never submitted my websites to the search engines.

So, I am fairly curious, do you submit your websites, and if you do, do you use a service or do you do it manually?

    Thanks,

    Jens

There really is no point submitting your site to search engines , google yahoo and msn will all find you by themselves

When I first started making websites, yes - I did submit. But now, no, I do not submit to search engines. With a few backlinks, the search engines will find you. With years of experience, I have learned that search engine submission is a waste of time.

I could agree more with you guys. Any website I've started has been automatically found by the search engines purely through back links or reciprocal links. It didn't take months or weeks to get listed either, usually a few days. You website will probably vary of course, depending on the level of marketing you are doing.

So manual submission never seemed necessary for me as I only really cared about getting good listings on Google/Yahoo/MSN.

No, i dont submit, focus only on link building and search engine will find the website content itself.

I use IBP & Aerellis to get the basic search engine and directory submission done. The search engine submission feature is purely automatic, while the directory submission does an autocomplete thing on the fields but you still need to manually submit (damn captcha).

As far as results, my sites tend to get cached in a day or so after going live irregardless of if i submit or not. I like the automatic search engine submitter because it hits all the small search engines, as well as country based search engines. I do get a bit of country based traffic from this on google, etc. Or maybe not, theres really no way to tell if my submission is what caused my site to end up in search results on google.co.uk for instance, or google.nl. I don't think i've ever seen any (or very many) hits come from off the wall search engines, but its automatic and doesn't seem to hurt so *shrug* (by off the wall search engines i mean as an example something like bobssearchengine.com (i dont know if this domain works, but the name should get the point across)).

I would recommend only submitting to search engines once in the lifetime of a domain though, otherwise it may count against you.

I use IBP as well and it works good for me, I notice some of the smaller search engines pick my sites up quickly and trickle a lil traffic. I wouldnt do it by hand tho.

    Thanks for all your advice.

Actually, I did submit my new website to google manually... but it took me about five seconds, so, I thought why not?

I have never used IBP, is it worth the money? It looked fairly expensive.

It's worth it if you have a lot of websites. If you just have a single site, definitely not.

Of course not! Submitting to search engines in 2009 is absolutely pointless.
Doing so means you know nothing about SEO. Paying for such service is madness :D

Really and truley I did submit my first site to plenty of search engines which I guess was not a bad thing, but a waste of time. I think the only reason to submit it to a search engine is when you have a site map built then submit your site map to google. Other than that if you submit your site to a couple high ranked social bookmarking sites such as www.digg.com it will be indexed within a day or two. www.ezinearticles.com is also a good way to get indexed though it takes about a week to get a article approved.

yeah I do submit my blogs, websites to search engine. That's the first thing I do. I prefer submission process to be manual.

I submit to all major search engines by pinging them. Get spidered fast that way instant with most. If you have a Pagerank 3 or higher websites linking to them they get posted pretty fast with good results for keyword density.

I don't submit my sites to search engines. They'll find it within a short period of time. So I might as well save me some time by not submitting manually to the search engines.

I submit my website to Google since according to my understanding Search Engine means "Google" these days. I do not care about other search engines. I have seen it that if my site is listed with Google, other search engines picks it on their own.

What about you guys? Do you care about other search engines.

I use a lot web 2.0 and social media strategies and so submitting manually has never even entered my mind. If you are starting an authority site and want to build it and make it look naturally you should submit your domain name to all search engines then.

Sure google is the dominant search engine but you are leaving money on the table if you ignore the other 30% of internet users
