Well I just started my personal blog.

And I was wondering what you guys thin about truncated posts..
Is it good to have full posts on the homepage or truncated ones with the "read more" option ???

And which is the best plugin that's there to truncate posts..

Or do you guys say full posts in homepage and limiting to like 3 posts/page ??

The read more option is already a function of word press, it's in your post editor tool box. As far as how to display your posts, that's a personal decision based on how you want your blog to look. It's more a question of aesthetics, and user experience. There is no SEO value in one more than the other.

<!--more--> tag am pretty much aware of it. Thanks.

But my concern was with the SEO. So it would not actually affect my ranking in SE.

NO. How good your SEO is will affect your rankings, not how you have your posts displayed.
Proper tagging, Use of SEO plug ins like "All in one", Excerpts and so on.

On an SEO view point, I dont think it actually matters. Your supposed to write for people, not search engines, and the search engine is going to index the article anyway.

I insert the <!--more--> tag when the post is either image heavy, or long. Lets say that a post has 5 images, I will make 1 image viewable from the home page and all of the other images under the <!--more--> break. This speeds up the loading time of the home page.

Some of my articles are over 1,000 words, with one being around 11,000 - 12,000 words. Having to load all of that on the home page would slow down the loading time. Make the site so that it loads fast and your information is easy to find.

    Thanks @ hmansfield, kev.

Well I haven't got much experience with Wordpress. So wanted an insight about few stuffs.

What are the possible method do you suggest against plagiarism ??
Would it hurt if some 100 people copied/pasted your article into their blog ??

What are the cons of it ?

Well, there is really not a whole lot that you can do about that. Your post date and ping time are on your side and should identify you as the originator, and push the plagiarized content to the back of the bus.
If it's just a personal blog you shouldn't have much of a problem with that, but unfortunately we all have to live with auto blogs and content scrapers.

There are copyright plug ins that you can install that will put a tag on your feed, but I usually just set my RSS allowance [Settings->Reading] to show a few amount of posts, and summary. They can only feed from what ever you let them.

Thank you again. Well I actually set about minimum number of words. Not the whole post in rss. So they cannot steal it.

And I got to know that submitting articles to articlebase is good for the blog. So I did. I see people copying content to their blog. Give credit to me. Comment on the same topic with their url and mine..

Any specific reason behind that ?

And is there a tutorial or tips that is there for ping-o-matic.com.
How to use it wisely without getting banned from SE.

Well could anyone please answer to my questions.

And also can I use images from other sites give them a credit link right below the img ??
What is your take on that. Have you done that ??

Cos I really wanted to write an article about the missing link :

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/05/090519-missing-link-found.html

Where will I get my own images to suggest the readers what it is about without an image..

Not really. People steal. That's how the web is. At least you are lucky you got a link back, most article scrapers, autoblogs and copywrite infringers try to pass the content off as their own., or as if it was submitted to them willfully.

Word Press pings automatically with each new post or page. No need to do anything. If you are pinging manually..when you update is good enough, no need to do it more than that.

It's done all the time, but technically, and legally it's not cool. The owners have copy write over their images not to be used without permission or fees.

Make them, buy them, or ask for permission. For wordpress there is a plug in for related images and content that is available for use (under creative commons)
