Will having the H2 tag before the H1 tag affect SEO? I purchased a Wordpress template and it has a H2 post title displayed on the page before I can put the H1 tag. Thanks
H tags are used to define the structure of the web pages. it is always advisable to first use the h tags in descending order i.e. h1, then h2 and so on.
Yeah, that's kinda was my feeling to. Seems odd to have the H2 tag appear first. Anyway I was feeling kinda gutsy tonight and I deleted it from the page template Boy, just imagine a klutz like me editing the template...will miracles never cease Thanks
There was a video by Matt Cutts in which he replied exactly the same question "I have my h2 tag above the h1 tag. Is this a problem?" According to Matt, G is doing quite well with all H tags so no need to worry about that. As he said 70% of the sites out there do not comply with the standards and they are doing ok
Both tags same effect in seo and both are positive ON page factors. If H1 after that h2 using means its good thing.
I prefer to be in sequence always like h1,h2 and so. You should edit your WP template to make it more crawler friendly and take it in right way. No matter to play with your website just because of this little editable things.
hi, heading tag are more useful any web application coz when u want details and paragraph content then head tags are important and as per my suggestion more use H1, H2 , H3 coz he means big heeding and it will be decreasing in ascending order like H3 heading small compare H2 ok.it will create good impression among your visitors ok dude
H1 relates to Title Heading of your Page! however H2 relates to Tagline or Description of your Topic! But for SEO! H1 considered to be important factor to integrate topic title among search engines!
Using h1 before h2 is common sense and should be done in that order for the sake of the structure and accessibility of your page. I am not sure on its effects on SEO but I do believe that you should do them in the right order just to stay on the safe side. I once used h2 above h1 without any noticable problems but it is always best to do things how they were intended.
I think you should fix this and not wonder about it. H1 should come first because it should be the most important tag of an article. It tells what the article is about. Having a subtitle before a title would confuse me as a human being also...
We have benchmarked this issue and as of 11/2008, it makes no difference. What G is looking for is site structure (top down). And if your keyword is so competitive, then leave the world of WordPress and take the template into a real design where you can control everything.
