Would a backlink -with anchor text & in posts not comments - from a rarely visited, low ranking blog help in serp's / pagerank ?

Let's say I get 50 bacaklinks like that from different blog hosts, would that be good for serp's / pagerank ?

There are some factors to consider, are the blogs in your niche? Are the blogs still being updated with content regularly? If so then yes they will help. Getting a backlink from a blog post is the same as recieving a link from a website both are very helpful when attempting to rise in the serps.

    Not all of them.

    - They are blogs with not so many posts.
    - Not updated at all.
    - Around 3 visitors a month for each.

Would they still be good ?!!

A link back from a high pr blog that is updated daily, even multiple times per day with an archive of older posts that has thousands or more visitors per day is ideal. What you have is less than ideal? I would rather spend my time looking for blog posts that are in my niche that more closely resemble the above rather than what you are contemplating as your blogs would appear to be pr0 at best but I don't know for sure.
Would they help? IMO Not much! I think the better question is would they hurt- NO. There are a lot of blogs and blog posts on blogs that haven't been updated in 1 or 2 years and I still find them in backlinks for competitors. I can't say when google gave the site credit for them but I would get the backlink but would not expect much as a result. Good Luck!! Amigo!

just stick to do follow blogs they usually have high pr and get regularly seen and updated.

It doesn't really hurt but why focus on things that aren't the best when there are 10's of thousands of good do follow blogs that can help you out allot more

    it's completely useless.

either your content is worth linking, then i would just point in the direction of high-PR sites in your niche, or your content is rubbish then you better learn black hat techniques and go for the PR-0 way of spamming thousands of abandoned blogs or guestbooks or whatever else with automated scripts.

and don't expect any "viral" effect from social bookmarking or social networks unless your content is really really good.

first of all, we all must ask ourselves if what we're doing is saleable and worth the time and energy needed : for this simple reason i forgot about some half-baked projects i had some time ago and just focused on the ones i'm good for and i see clearly the results now.

As long as the blogs are in your niche it'll help a little.

I look at it this way - how much time/money is it going to take to get the link? Free and under 1-2 minutes? Go for it. A link is a link and you never know if that blog/site might take off in the near or distant future providing you with a better quality link. I've had links on PR1 pages that turned into PR5 within a few months.

well then try over and over.

why it's so hard to spend your time with at least PR5 sites instead of wasting energy with PR0 blogs ?

    PR0 means exactly that ... zero !

either you focus on PR5+ or you focus on PR0 but then you must automate it and spam 1000s of sites at once to see some results if any.

What i would do is to focus on the sites which have PR5 and above. They counted more in Google.

As long as there relevant links and the site has not been reported for link selling you should be good.

In my opinion, all links from other sites work. As long as those sites aren't link farms etc.

If the blog is in your niche, a link could be very useful. Low PR doesn't necessarily mean the site is of low quality. It just means there are no high-PR sites linking to it.

I have to agree with 802networks. How much time/money are you spending in order to get links from those sites? If you're in a link network where you can get 1 way links from these sites easily and it doesn't cost much then there's no harm in having these links.

I'm involved in a number of link networks and I can definitely say that it helps. How do I know? Because I've had quite a few of number 1 and page 1 rankings on Google.

I have many sites getting non-thematic links from websites with low PR.

They are getting good serps and many years ago I had said good bye to my "Yes Boss! You
are the best Boss!" job. Thanks to those links.

A link is a link. Be grateful. Don't say they are useless.

Be careful, don't get into blogs with too many spams already. Would be nice if the blog has some real visitors, and some PR juice passing through. Otherwise, it's worthless.

I disagree with richmoromo, if the sites are related to yours then it's better than irrelevant sites with high prs
