My sites are on a shared hosting plan. I have sitewide footer links in each of my sites to all the other sites that I have. Does this help me at all in terms of SEO?

    thanks

Having those sites linking to each other should help a bit.

BUT because they are all on same ip those links get de-valued. Who knows how much really, but they would be better links if all those domains were on seperate ip's

Also, some believe that Google recognizes footer links, as just that, down low, getting trampled upon, low value links.

My answer then is YES, they help, but not as much as you may like them to. I do the same with most of my sites.

They may help, but they are certainly not the best type of links you could get. Spammers have replicated this strategy way too much to be effective these days, especially in Google.

Someone said before that when you link from your one site to your another site can hurt your rankings.
    Because this is manipulating serps.
It is better not to link IMHO because they are also on the same IP in your case and then this links are devalued.

Can you point me to a reliable source that proves it? I'm not saying you are wrong, I just need to know if this is some kind of an urban myth or a theory, or it's based on a solid fact.

It is the same when you link from your homepage your inner pages, link from another site and another IP will give much more weight than this link from your homepage.

I totally understand that would make sense. However, it would also make sense for Googlebot to do something about sites that fake their PageRank. Yet you can still fake it no problem. What I'm trying to say is that simply because something seems logical doesn't make it an SEO fact.

So again: Is there a reliable source that could confirm Google is really looking at C-class IPs and/or shared IPs? I'm really interested in finding the right answer, but searching in Google just gave me a bunch of speculations on various SEO forums.
