I would not deny that blog commenting helps your SERP rankings. I used to see some guy create tons of backlinks from blog commenting and their rankings went up rapidly. As you would know quickly their rankings disapeared too, it is said to be sandboxed. Well you guys may not notice, when these sites finally come out of the sandbox, they rank better on those keywords. That is to say, Google DO count those backlinks. It is said that Google will not count those links in the future as someone try to manipulate the SERP deliberately. So is it safe to say that blog commenting is dead now?
I would really like to know what is your source of information to make you come to this conclusion?.....as I simply do not agree with it. Blog commenting is good way of interaction and keeping the discussion alive. It really helps in good networking of various like minded blogs. I doubt if google would really want it dead....just because some people misuse it. Regards, RightMan
Google created the "nofollow" tag specifically for blog commenting, they put this power for bloggers to decide themselves whether or not they give out link juice. Google is not going to devalue these links.
Blog commenting has been dead for a while now. Show me some evidence that it works? The Google Bot isn't dumb. They know when they crawl a blog. Nowadays, the best way (besides an optimized site) is to pay, whether it's the Yahoo Directory, Business.com or buying links, unless you happen to have many friends with juicy site. Unless of course you have no competition for whatever you're going after.
Yeah check this site:www.salenike.com, when you searh nike sneaker on USA Google, its #6. We here it's #1, higher than Nike official site. I checked it's first 1000 backlinks on Siteexplorer.serch.yahoo.com, and I also used SEO elite to analyze this site. Guess what? Most if not all of their backlinks are from blog commenting which are filled with tons of keyword links commenting. But they rank especially well on its keywords. It's only a PR3 site, up less than a year. So can you check this site?
I don't think so Blog commenting definitely boost search engine rankings. It was proven and tested especially to seo contests, just find quality blogs that accept comments and links.
Everybody thinks google is going to devalue links here and there but I really wonder how many links out there come from a genuine effort to have a link to good content rather than a contrived link to improve PR?
blog commenting may be slipping in use, but having backlinks to your sites from WITHIN the blog articles certainly still works *extremely* well.
As long as the blog is do follow then the comments will hold the same weight as they always had. I really doubt google will switch that up.
If google devaluate blog commenting links then no one is going to comment in others blog. To be frank everyone comments only for a backlink. Even comments with nofollow links also helps u.
I need a link saying that Google devalue backlinks from blog commenting. As long as the blog is do-follow then your comments are counted.
I do not agree with you at all on this so you saying that you need to buy links instead of natural links
lakelandprinting made a comment about something new to him and doesn't have a clue about it. As for blog posting it really helps, just post on relevant blogs and you'll definitely rank higher.
This thread is a joke. People who don't know what they're talking about shouldn't be making statements on Google's behalf. I have never read anything about blog comments being devalued. They still work quite well. Pretty much every kind of link can be manipulated by seo's. So until Google finds a better way to rank sites, almost all links will continue to help serp's.
Ya, i believe the no-follow links on many blogs will obviously not make them count as much. Assuming there is no- no-follow, if the content is similar to the blog, it will help even more.
I will be believe this until I hear it from Google or other source. I wonder where we can give link from again, if this happen.
If I were Google, I'd devaluate it since it's mainly being used by webmasters to get a link, as someone states. This implicitly means that those links say nothing about a site's real value, so they shouldn't be counted or at least with less importance. What would really tell something about a site's quality are for instance tracking via the Google toolbar, Google analytics, etc. This shows real user behaviour.
Nice example. Thanks for sharing it. Also i notice that according to Alexa, they do not get much traffic.
